The few that bothered to turn up to Reading's weekend friendly against International side Oman were left disappointed with a poor showing from the Royals. Reading were beaten 0-2 by Oman who scored a goal in each half to defeat a Reading side short on ideas. The Royals fielded a strong side that wasn't far off a first choice team. Stuart Taylor made an appearance in goal while Sean Griffin played the ninety minutes at full back. With Le Fondre and Pogrebnyak starting up front the home fans might have expected a few goals but it was an easy victory for Oman.
The match may have served it's purpose to give players like Taylor and Griffin a competitive match at the Madejski Stadium and to fill a whole in the fixture schedule. However, Reading return to proper action next Sunday in the Championship against Brighton, in a game that both teams will be looking to win to improve their mid-table start to the season. The game is a 13:15 kick-off on Sunday due to TV coverage.

Reading team: S Taylor, S Kelly, S Griffin, S Morrison, A Pearce, D Guthrie (H Akpan), J Karacan (A Tshibola), D Williams, R Drenthe (G Ugwu), A Le Fondre (N Blackman), P Pogrebnyak (J Obita).
