Shaun Cummings has completed his move to Reading's Championship rivals Millwall and becomes the first player to complete a permanent move away from the Royals this month. Cummings has signed a two and a half year deal but the transfer fee, as usual, has not been disclosed. Millwall are in the bottom three - seven points behind Reading in the table. He could get his chance to prove something against his former club in just 15 days time when Reading travel to Millwall in the League. The game was re-arranged and shifted three days later due to Reading commitments in the FA Cup fourth round at Cardiff on the Saturday.

Cummings signed for Reading from Chelsea in September 2009 and looked like a very bright prospect. He went on to make 80 starts for the Royals in all competitions. He was a regular starter in the 2011/2012 season but then found it harder to hold down his place. The next two seasons saw him start as a first choice full back before losing his place in the side at the turn of each year.

This season he has also seen his chances limited. He made a flying start to this season, scoring his only career goal in Reading's season opening 2-2 draw at Wigan. Cummings was a key player in August making six appearances in the month. However, since August he has featured in just one fixture. His last Reading game saw him come off the bench during Reading's 2-2 draw at Brighton on Boxing Day.
