It was a great night all round for Reading after suffering their third league defeat of the season at the weekend to hit bottom of the table. Gorkss was Reading's first scorer early in the first half, heading home Nicky Shorey's free-kick, and it was 1-1 at the break before QPR took the lead again. enough to send Reading through.
Once more the lead was short lived before Nicky Shorey scored a superb free-kick to make it 2-2. Just five minutes later, and with nine minutes left on the clock a decent Reading move saw Tabb and Hunt supply Pogrebnyak who scored the winner with a back heel. Reading should have added a fourth from the penalty spot but Pogrebnyak saw his kick saved and the one goal margin was enough to send Reading through.
