Reading face Huddersfield Town at home tonight in the Championship (kick-off 8pm) looking for their first victory in four matches. The Royals have picked up just two points from the last three games and have dropped from 2nd to 7th in the table. However, two of those matches were away, and the last match on Saturday saw Reading come from a goal behind to secure a draw against top of the table Brighton. Vydra scored his first Reading goal to secure a point, making the most of his chance after Blackman's shot came to him. Reading might have gone on to win that game and inflict Brighton's first defeat of the season but had to settle for a draw. They are unlikely to want to settle for just a point tonight.
Huddersfield are 16th in the table and have lost their last two fixtures (1-2 at Burnley and 1-2 at home to Derby County). The visitors have won just one of their last six league matches, and give Reading a realistic chance of bouncing back from a winless run.
Anton Ferdinand will be hoping to play a part after being named on the bench on Saturday after returning from injury. Reading are spoilt for choice in defence with McShane as solid as you like, leaving Ferdinand battling with Hector for a starting position. Jordan Obita also has a battle of his own to reclaim a start at left back in place of Andrew Taylor. Whatever the starting eleven, Reading will have a very strong bench available despite a substantial injury list. Reading will definitely be without Aaron Tshibola who has joined Hal Robson-Kanu and Stephen Quinn on the long-term injury list. Both Robson-Kanu and Quinn were expected back sooner initially but are still expected to be out until near the end of the year - or longer.
Last season Reading were beaten twice by Huddersfield in the Championship, but revenge came with a 1-0 victory in the FA Cup en-route to that famous FA Cup semi-final appearance against Arsenal
at Wembley. At home we lost 1-2 with Simon Cox getting a late consolation as the Royals made a mixed start to the season. In the last ten games Reading have failed to score more than a single goal against tonight's visitors, but that run of ten games includes five 1-0 victories. We'll be hoping for more entertainment than a single goal tonight, but another 1-0 win would take Reading back into the play-off positions if Birmingham fail to win at home to Blackburn.
