Reading To Face Arsenal In League Cup

Reading will travel to Arsenal in the fourth round of the League Cup, following the 2-1 away victory at Brighton in the week. The game will take place at the Emirates Stadium on either 25 or 26 October. Arsenal were 4-0 away winners at Nottingham Forest in the week to book their place in the last 16 of the competition. Reading will be hoping to avoid a repeat of their last meeting with Arsenal in the League Cup four years ago - the Royals raced into a four goal lead at the Madejski Stadium only to go down 5-7 in extra time as the Gunners staged a dramatic comeback. With Reading's solid run of historical defeats against Arsenal it seems a near certainty that the draw will signal an end to Reading's run in the competition - but at least we have "nothing to lose".

5 of the 8 teams through so far are from the Champo, and with one of Fulham/Bristol City through we're guaranteed at least 6 Champo sides in the last 16.
I'd be looking for one of Preston, Leeds or Fulham/Brizzle at home in the next round, yes it's not a very interesting draw but it gives us a good shot at the last 8.

Let's have West Ham. They can't defend anymore. I'm sure we can stuff them.
Team to avoid has to be Liverpool. Their high pressing game will cause absolute havoc in our defense. The score could get embarrassing. I'm not sure we would have a tactical answer to the way that they play.

I think the really crap ties would be Newcastle, Norwich, Swansea, or Stoke/Hull. Anyone else at home would be good.

West Ham usually gets the blood pumping and they'd be a beatable top flight side given their current form.
It'd be nice to play a part in Mourinho's continued descent into madness and disaster too.

I do love a Northern midweek away day but I think you've got to look at Palace/Southampton at home surely for revenge from the Cup last year - or in the case of Saints - to revive the rivalry from 2012. Both would probably fill the away end and would be quite a good atmosphere for £12

Probably West Ham/Accrington away but I'd highlight any of the championship games as a good opportunity (Newcastle aside). Leeds and Preston would be the pick I'd say.

I would like to see us play Preston North End, Gillingham or Accrington Stanley. We've already played the biggest team in the world when we beat Brighton yesterday, so it would be nie to have an easier game next round. Maybe if it's too easy, we could play with 10 men to even things up.

My only concern with getting United would be that they might be in good form by the time we play them.
I'm not about getting the big boys just yet, this is only the second time we've got this far in the last 10 or so years and people can belittle the cup as much as they like, and yes it's far less glamorous than the FA Cup and far less of a priority to most than the league, but I want us to do as well as we can in any game, league or cup.

Gotta get the big boys at some point if you're going to go any distance. Better next round than Qs, Semis or Final for the likes of Utd who are rarely beaten by a much smaller club at the business end of a competition.

As in teams that are still in or teams that aren't yet knocked out? Of the teams left Stoke vs Reading would be between the oldest clubs remaining, of all the sides who currently enter it would be Notts County vs Stoke.
