Reading will start the new 2019/2020 Championship season with a home fixture against Sheffield Wednesday. The new season begins early with The Owls kicking off the season at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday 3 August. Our first away game is the following weekend with a visit to Hull City, followed by another home game against Cardiff City. A difficult opening month to the new season sees us travel to West Bromwich Albion and just relegated Huddersfield Town.
Boxing Day is a home fixture against QPR, and the busy festive spell sees Reading hit the road with games at Preston North End on Sunday 29 December and Fulham on Wednesday 1 January 2020. The season wraps up on Saturday 2 May with a home game against Swansea City.
After two consecutive twentieth placed finishes in the Championship, the Royals will be hoping to improve this term and avoid a relegation battle. However, we already look set for a tough season with a "soft" ban on incoming transfers in place as Reading look to offload players, make some money, and substantially reduce player wages.
