Which is really strange as the gaffer mentioned missing Kyerewaa is having a big effect on how they want to play! so why waste a loan on Young if he's not good enough? makes no sense. Very much like Rinhomota, how long does it take to get fit? The guy must have been fit, however i understand there's a difference between fit and match fit but surly you'll only get match fit through playing games which he has been in the U21's.
The gaffer mentioned not having Championship caliber player's yet Rinhomota was Cardiffs player of the season last year in the Championship? I feel he's exactly the type of player our midfield is currently missing and must be worth a shout on the bench.
I would've thought Young should be in the squad if he's available. He certainly seems to have something about him and (IIRC) looked good at Port Vale. As you say, he's the replacement for Kyerewaa and Richardson was complaining about the lack of direct runners in the squad.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rinhomota was in the squad tomorrow, tbh. He didn't feature for the U21s tonight, when he'd been playing fairly regularly. Feel he's got to be close, but who drops out? Abrefa played for the U21s tonight and was on the bench at Mansfield, so perhaps him?

Young is/was injured. He picked up a hamstring issue on the Vale quagmire, it wasn’t thought too serious but enough to miss a game or two. Has Leam subsequently said Kadan was fit again but just left out of the Mansfield shambles? If that’s the case it might have been more to do with the weather and pitch conditions being similar to Vale Park.

If he’s fit but just left out though then would agree his signing would seem to be a rather silly piece of transfer business.

Danny K update (Chronicle) -

Leg brace off but not back in full training.

Rather sensibly being guided by the medical team

Unlikely to feature again this season I would've thought. If season starts to fizzle out, there will be even less sense in risking him.

Benn Ward in a protective boot, sounds like he's done for the season.

Thanks Burton striker, for kicking him while he was down because you're a petulant thug

Our injuries are unbelievable this season. Can’t help being kicked, but wonder whether underlying training/medical treatment issues, or just whether it’s the number of games.

Kyerewaa and Roberts both back in training. Danny K could be ‘ticked off in the next day or two.’ Haydon ‘hopefully another seven to ten days.’

If DK has had his foot in a protective boot for a while surely he’ll still be weeks away from actually playing

Presumably depends on the injury, I’m sure the club’s medical professionals know about these things and we’ll hear more once he’s back in full contact training. Bench tomorrow then.

Yeah. It's possible he's been able to maintain some form of fitness around the boot,or without the boot under low stress activity, and boot off he'll be close to straight back at it.

I'd expect another couple of weeks though, and see if there's a pleasant surprise.

Would just think those muscles around the injury would need a couple of weeks to strengthen again enough to cope with a game. Anyway may be wrong and will be good to have him and Roberts back

Did anyone who was at Burton see exactly what happened to Ward? I could see on the telly there was some finger pointing etc. from the away fans and some of the players but I was ordering a cricket jumper on my laptop so I didn't see any replays.

Didn't we re-open the low-impact training equipment we have, when Couhig took over? I vaguely remember something being said about that at the Bearwood open day. It had been effectively mothballed when Dai stopped funding us.

I saw from the cameras (not the replays, they followed the ball) that Beasley and Ward went over together tussling for the ball at the line. Then when getting up Beasley kicked out hard at Ward to separate from him in the tangle of limbs, in a quite clearly malicious and nasty way. If an official sees it the sort that should be a clear red.

Yes, telly didn’t show a replay but there was something off there, felt the referee should have carded Beesley but nothing ensued and Reading players didn’t really complain to the referee.

Apparently the club are not expecting good news about Ward following his scan and the Chronicle reports:
Reading Chronicle wrote:Jake Beesley, who was signed to Chesterfield when Leam Richardson was Paul Cook's assistant manager at the time, looked to leave a foot in when getting up after a clean and clinical Ward tackle in the first-half.

When asked if the club will be looking to seek a review of the incident from the relevant bodies due to this being an off the ball incident, Richardson said: "I think we'll certainly have a look at it, because we want to protect our players all the time.

"Knowing the person and the player who it was against, I've worked with Jake before, when he was a young lad, I know him as a person, I'd be very, very shocked if it was malicious, but we'll certainly look, because we want to protect our players."

DK has been training for the last few days and the club are hopeful he’ll be medically signed off very soon after which Leam says it’ll just be a matter of how DK is with it and how his confidence is in similar situations. Apparently it was DK’s first real issue as a player so a lot of his recovery will be how he is confidence wise facing the same situations on the pitch. He’s fairly tentative with it at the moment but Leam says he’ll talk to DK and see what he feels about things once signed off.

Think he’ll be on the bench sooner rather than later, perhaps even tomorrow :?

That's rough, both had become must haves in the starting XI, for all the critique Leam gets with the style of play, he's had sod all luck on injuries to key players.
