Mark Robins admits he’s “happy” that Fabio Tavares stayed at Coventry City on transfer deadline day when the player was the subject of firm interest from League One Reading.

Although the Royals have been under a transfer embargo and unable to make signings until a proposed club takeover is complete and a budget confirmed, the EFL authorised the club to take a loan player last Friday when Tavares emerged as one of the club’s targets.

Logically it means they would have been prepared to let him go but as he didn’t leave they are happy to still have him. Which makes sense as it would be a bit cruel,to say they are disappointed they weren’t able to ship him out…
