03 Aug 2019 17:47Yeah, with a proper keeper, decent defence, solid midfield and two honest to God actual strikers.NR_Royal wrote:It's the first game, get behind the team ffs! Anyone remember how we started the 2005-06 season???

03 Aug 2019 17:57It certainly makes no sense to me to bring in a younger less experienced player you know far less about.Zip wrote:Is Virginia really any better than Southwood? I do not understand why Southwood was loaned out without being given a chance

03 Aug 2019 18:04No one has said that have they. He has not been given a chance during pre season which after an excellent loan he deserved.sandman wrote:Zip wrote:Is Virginia really any better than Southwood? I do not understand why Southwood was loaned out without being given a chance
I don't understand how Southwood has suddenly turned into prime Iker Casillas.

03 Aug 2019 18:25And yet they've chosen a 19 year old with no first team experience who has so far looked thoroughly unconvincing on all five goals I've seen him concede in 135 minutes.sandman wrote:People have certainly been hyping him up.Zip wrote:No one has said that have they. They've seen him in training during pre season, they have scouted him and presumably have analysed all his data from his loan spell and they've decided he's not good enough for what they want.

03 Aug 2019 18:51Yep. All three goals today were soft. Mostly down to very poor defending but Virginia could have done better. I also wonder how our scouts have seen of Virginia to make him first choice. It’s a huge call. Personally I think we should have let Walker go and kept Jaakkola.Snowflake Royal wrote:And yet they've chosen a 19 year old with no first team experience who has so far looked thoroughly unconvincing on all five goals I've seen him concede in 135 minutes.sandman wrote:People have certainly been hyping him up.Zip wrote:

Does rather call into question their judgement.

03 Aug 2019 19:18Walker had a contract, Jaakkola didn't. If it had been reversed Jaakkola would be here and Walker gone.Zip wrote:Yep. All three goals today were soft. 03 Aug 2019 21:42AAH was signed as a back up to the newly signed Jonathan Bond, iirc. That went well. Highly rated U21 international without much experience.AthleticoSpizz wrote:Give the kid a fair crack (remember those early Habsi days?).
One thing that RFC always tends to have is decent keepers...eventually

03 Aug 2019 22:43Yeah blaming the keeper for an absolute shit show from the entire team is just wrong.AthleticoSpizz wrote:Yes, and...
AAH had just spent a good few seasons in the Prem too
Can still recall the whinging and whining on here following his earliest games for us....quality rises tho’
