Exactly my point. The EFL sets it's own terms of membership. It shouldn't take until a month into the new season to say enough is enough when this all started 9 months ago.

In other countries, clubs have to provide assurances of financial viability at the start of each season in order to compete.

I would also say that selling a club for £1 should immediately trigger an investigation into viability.

Would agree with this and i personally don’t think either Bolton or Bury should have been allowed to kick a ball this season without deals being satisfactorily in place. The league could then have granted a 2 week extension to get it sorted or be expelled

It certainly seems at odds to the various non league organisations who don’t seem to take any messing about when it comes to clubs in difficulties

The EFL is basically a private trade organisation. They can stipulate whatever they want as terms of membership. They can say that continued membership is dependant on a review by an auditor in the event of a change of ownership.

It's the remit of the EFL to maintain the integrity of the competition. They have failed to do that.

Plenty of other FAs do it and take hard line.

The FL have literally done what you're bitching about them not doing. They set a requirement, it wasn't followed. They demanded action, it wasn't taken. They kicked Bury out. The only difference is you seem to expect them to have kicked Bury out immediately.

Come on Ian, if you'd actually read what I said, my point was that they had 8 months to take effective action before the start of this season and didn't. The situation At Bury hasn't suddenly deteriated. This shouldn't have impacted on the start of the season.

I also think the EFL can do more to make member clubs prove they are financially viable for the season. They set the rules of membership after all. If that means kicking out 10 clubs to get the house in order, so be it. Other leagues manage to do it.

Comes as Macc players have trouble getting paid each month and 1st team players refused to play in the FA Cup defeat to Kingstonian at the weekend.

its no surprise these little clubs are dropping like flies with mega-clubs like city utd liverpool all less than an hour away
