Harte was a defender, and we believed a stop-gap to bring some maturity into the defence.

Elwood, defensive midfield

But JR is already 33, and the position is STRIKER, requiring
running and stuff.... hardly sounds like a long-term thing

Yeah because at left back and central midfield running isn't really involved is it?

I would say being in midfield and defence required more running than being a striker......

I was happy with the signings of Griffin and Harte personally, though wasn't sure about Leigertwood.
Typical of the racist attitude among hobnobbers.

I think the key point is that Griff and Legs were about 4/5 years younger when they signed for us, so they're a cretinous comparison to Roberts. Harte was obviously just a stop gap which has worked out very well. And his biggest weakness is that he can't run around. He is at least a decent comparison though.

Our system requires our strikers to run the channels and harry the defence, so I'd say they get through a shit load of running and need to be able to do it plenty.

Comes from the man too much of a daft racist to learn how to pronounce Leigertwood properly so calls him the cringeworthy Elwood.

I would welcome Roberts here btw...

Darius Henderson is 30 and has 15 goals in 21 games, Kenny Miller is 32 and has 9 in 25 and Kevin Phillips is 38 and has 8 in 24 (11 of those games on the bench).

I believe the best of our young bucks has 6.

If a player looks after himself Age is just a number.. Didint Sheringham play at a top level untill he was 40 Giggs is older than Roberts is he not?

I think this could be a good move strong centre forward who knows where the goal is . 33 is far from over the hill

i honestly could not think of a better signing with the lack of players available, and would compliment Le Fondre or Hunt perfectly.
