Peterboro could still go down at this rate
I think they'll be okay.

Exeter have to play both Stockport and Bradford; and have to gain four/five points on them (depending on goal difference). Wimbledon are in complete free fall too; and have to play Plymouth and Huddersfield.

Thought Port Vale might have a chance of shocking everyone, until I saw they still need to play Cardiff; Plymouth; Stockport; and Lincoln.
Yep bottom 4 looks done and dusted....should we go back in for Wareham? Exeter have financial difficulties and as a L2 striker we could get him at a low price.
I think Wareham could certainly be a good addition and we played him as an inside forward a lot of the time so there's a bit of flexibility there too.

There is no way Wareham is coming back to Reading, so I would just end that conversation now.

Sorry, what’s the backstory on this particular piece of fan idiocy?

His stepdad and mum apparently (I've not seen it) have a tic toc or youtube page on "being parents of a professional footballer" and at the time he left or soon after dad in particular was very critical of pretty much everything to do with the club, even the fans. This is just what I've read on Twitter etc though.

Apparently he's quite vocal on social media and there were a few rumours of him demanding things when Wareham moved to Exeter. Special parking space etc.

TBH, I suspect it's because he's Jayden's step-father, not biological, and seemingly trying to muscle in on the action, that most of the vitriol stems from.

Some logic to it all then, but then there might be some justification on the element of being critical of the club over Jayden’s time here, after all it was hardly the most wonderful place to be! All the same it’s not exactly something of which those fans should be proud.

I liked Jayden from the little i got to see of him, but then if he’d have stayed Marriott possibly wouldn’t have been brought here, but would Jayden have then been able to step up as well as at Exeter?

Exeter had retired a shirt number, Jay Stansfield’s dad, but first Jay Stansfirld wore it and then they quietly unretired it. Wareham wears the number now but it was all done with the Stansfield family blessing.

Reading fans everywhere. Amirite?

We offered him a contract commensurate with a reserve striker, so we did want him to stay. Players out of contract really are not beholden to the club.

Marriott felt like we got word he was available and swooped, rather than any plan.

You probably could criticise the club/staff here, essentially the judgement call was MOM > Wareham and that decision making process probably warrants reviewing.

The one I’d be tempted to try is Vickers. No scorched earth, no clear route forwards at current club, would fit into what I think Leam wants in attacking midfield.

Not really convinced by Vickers, didn't set the world alright the season he was semi-regular here and has done the square root of oxf*rd all on his loan spells.

If we don’t re-sign Doyle (unlikely) and Elliott is an injury too far (likely) then Vickers would be a very decent addition.

Yes agree - if those 2 are elsewhere Vickers would be a very sound addition.

I was thinking Doyle and Vickers, behind either Kelv or Marriott. Leam seems to like full backs providing the width, so have two skillful midfielders just inside.

Vickers is only 21, so far too young to be writing off or saying he won’t make it as his loans haven’t been convincing (been ok though)

Likewise I doubt Wigan signed him (they signed him permanently didn’t they?) only to sell after 6 months

I’d be happy enough to see him Back though.

Another loan

25 league one games, 3 goals, 3 assists
Solid.

In that case then it’d be an option

Well, referring to the thread title (lol), it won’t be Coventry, promoted to the Prem tonight.

Good on them, they definitely fell further than we have. I think they're a bigger club than us in terms of history and attendances but it's still one of those promotions that makes me think "why not us?"
