One was 38 when he signed for us, one is 33. Bit of a diff in the " past it" stakes.
Nothing to do with both being good target men...good with their heads.

The key question isn't age - it's hunger. What's Roberts got to prove to anyone now?

If this gets him off 606, then it's probably a price worth paying.

Roberts is 34 in a couple of weeks - he isn't exactly playing in a team that is struggling and isn't scoring goals
BUT i am happy to be proved wrong, should he sign
I would just rather us buy someone who will make an impact next season and going forward - rather than waste time with a loan move for a bloke who is more concerned about his media commitments than playing football.

Fair points.

To be fair Roberts is not playing at Blackburn due to a contract issue (if he plays more games he gets another year which Blackburn cannot afford). A loan til the end of the season would not be a bad thing. He is almost certainly better than our current strikers - but I suspect he will end up at another lower PL club in any case.

He didn't say lower than blackburn though. He said " another lower PL club", meaning lower half of the table in general.

I hope this is true. We need some experience and power in our forward line.

Always rated this guy so would be quite happy if he signed, however I think we have more pressing needs than another striker.

Apparently they're waiting for the Suarez saga to blow over before announcing the deal. Charlton also interested but naturally Roberts would prefer a step down one divison rather than two. Also prepared to take a large wage cut to ensure first team football.
Will be an interesting one judging by a certain thread on these very forums and his comments RE the Kebe saga
Excellent if true. I remember seeing him and Cureton rip us to shred a few years back. But wtf has the Suarez incident got to do with any of this?
yep well and truly thrashed 6-0 and the only game ive left with 10+ mins to go out of almost all home games at the madstad
