£3million for Blackman represents the finest deal in this clubs history. What a laughable excuse for a footballer that man was.Hound wrote:Thats an interesting read. Gives a good all round viewpoint.Royalwaster wrote:Derby fans' views on Paul Clement before his move to Swansea:

The abuse of Blackman is quite funny as well
Apparently tried to implement a continental passing style and failed - his team lacked the grit that was required in the championship.Hound wrote:Thats an interesting read. Gives a good all round viewpoint.Royalwaster wrote:Derby fans' views on Paul Clement before his move to Swansea:

But it's not like they had 1 win in 18 games when he was sacked.leon wrote:Apparently tried to implement a continental passing style and failed - his team lacked the grit that was required in the championship.Hound wrote:Thats an interesting read. Yeah but tbf they had the goal machine Nick Blackman. He's good for at least a 30 goal head start every August.genome wrote:But it's not like they had 1 win in 18 games when he was sacked.leon wrote:Apparently tried to implement a continental passing style and failed - his team lacked the grit that was required in the championship.Hound wrote:

They were fifth, and 5 points off the top of the table. They also had 1 loss in 19 games before a 7 game winless streak got him sacked (3 defeats).
It was a ridiculous sacking.

It does parallel Jaap Stam season 1 and season 2, maybe they fired him too soon or maybe they saw where it was going to lead quicker than our owners.genome wrote:But it's not like they had 1 win in 18 games when he was sacked.leon wrote:Apparently tried to implement a continental passing style and failed - his team lacked the grit that was required in the championship.Hound wrote:

I don't think the reaction to his 'football' is anything like what the reaction to Stam's implementation of it though. Most of the posts were fairly positive about him, but its clearly not going to be hung-ho attacking football, and will probably be a fairly smooth transition from Stamleon wrote:Yeah but tbf they had the goal machine Nick Blackman. Apart from the fact that was within 1 season, there is a parallel of sorts. Struck me at the time that the Derby board paniced as the annual slide was starting again and thought a chance of manager may stop it. Also rumours he was a naughty boy but not sure this has ever been confirmed.Forbury Lion wrote:It does parallel Jaap Stam season 1 and season 2, maybe they fired him too soon or maybe they saw where it was going to lead quicker than our owners.genome wrote:But it's not like they had 1 win in 18 games when he was sacked.leon wrote:

The Belgium Proximus (or whatever it's called) has already finished, Leuven finished second but lost out in playoffs.
