That bloke from blackpool, Gnanduillet
only if we do the deal by Tuesday

only if he's never takes a penalty
If he scores again on tuesday I expect he will be coming back on the bus with us.

Yes - because we could do with another unfit striker

+1

We simply do not need a striker. I’ve said it before, Meite is the only player that put in 100% during our poor run under Gomes. Bloke would run through walls for this club.

IF we NEEDED to get rid of a striker I’d nominate Baldock tbh. Some signings just don’t work out.
Clueless. If you were present on Saturday you would see how vastly out of his depth Meite is at this level. Effort and commitment doesn't mean a thing without ability. I'd give 110% effort for Reading but wouldn't be any good.
:|

I was present on Saturday and saw Meite prove himself a far better option than Baldock.

The WhoScored stats back it up with a rating of 6.1 for Baldock and 7.6 for Meite.

If you were there too, you will have noted Baldocks one shot in almost 70 mins before being subbed off.

I guess it's fair to say that Meite divides opinion ... he works hard, but I do agree that he lacks quality. He'd be amazing in League 1 ...

Is he out again? Played the full 90 in the cup against Fulham and looked pretty sharp - had what would have been a very nice goal taken off him by a team mate touching the ball as it was crossing the line.

Maybe not Murray but as our successful run relies on a powerful target man who can bring in our attacking midfielders do we need to be bringing someone in on loan or a short signing to cover Joao's injury?

Thing is, you don't have to be twinkle toes to be effective and Meite is effective. Yeah, he's not the best player in our team and he's not what you want for first choice as a team at the top of the Championship yet.

But we aren't those things and he is a very valuable player to the side who contributes at the very least his fair share.

he's 24 in February, he does need to start kicking on and adding more to his game, but yeah he serves a purpose at the moment.

I'm assuming because he didn't play against either City (Leicester & Manchester) when they didn't have a fit striker.

He's either unfit or already earmarked for a move. Given that the League Cup tie wouldn't have cup-tied him (unless he was going to Leicester, Man Utd or Man City) I can't see why he wouldn't have played if he was fit.

Not sure about the City game, but he missed the Leicester one in midweek because of illness

He fell out with Dean Smith after the Fulham game. Only has six months left on his contract (feel free to correct me) so is going to be moved on.

Would much rather him than Murray as provides proper competition for Joao.

Absolutely agreed. Kodjia is the signing we missed out on all those years ago before he left Angers for Bristol City. It would mean Villa finding and bringing in two strikers though, otherwise I can't see them letting him go. Would be a great fit for us.

Another player we were linked with in the past is Mbaye Diagne who has done really well in Turkey at two clubs. He was sent on loan to Club Brugge in September but fell out with the manager over a missed penalty against PSG and hasn't played in several months since. Assuming that Galatasaray may take him back, there could be some sort of deal possible there (especially if there are any remote links between us and them from that alleged 'partnership' a few years ago).

Otherwise, Murray on a loan or six month contract would be worth pursuing.
