My qualms with Richardson are that if you’ve got someone like Lane. 1, who you know will run at defenders, why not play him?! And then he has Marriott . 2, who is apparently fit enough to be on the bench but not fit enough for 30 mins?!
Richardson, for me and senior Franc, has no real plan A . 3 And when that gets found out, which we’ve seen a lot in recent games, then we struggle. We’re hampered by players hoping and expecting that Wing will do something. But for me his body language recently has been that of a player who doesn’t want to be there, whether true or not.
As for that piece in the Chronicle, that’s a biggie in my opinion. Whoever the player/s is/are who went to the paper, they’ve got some big balls and well done to them. Just a quick one for any ITK, like Brogue etc, might you know who the disgruntled party/parties are?
1. The same Lane who all the fans consistently give stick to
2. Marriott coming back from injury so presume any way back to playing would be based on medical advice.
3. Don’t argue with the board:
Reading Chronicle wrote:In an open letter to Reading FC fans, Rob Couhig admitted that the football wasn't 'free-flowing' but that Richardson has brought 'stability, organisation and a clear identity.'
Don’t really care who the disgruntled’s are, it’s all history now and for the board to deliberate over at season’s end.

Yes there are better managers out there, that’s nearly always the case for any club, but there’s also a shed load that would be worse, so any change should be done with the same due diligence as buying the club - would therefore like to see the board interview/talk to a few prospective candidates first, rather than just appoint someone from nowhere after a few days which it seems the club has been doing for a decade or so.

But if there is no managerial change made at the end of the season, can we please wait until the close window shuts and we see what the team is like then before getting back on the “things must change” ride?

Wonder if he wants the job as our new manager? Sounds ideal -

A single, overweight, washed up football manager - spewing out a couple of shit interviews a week for probably well above minimum wage? a guy who has lost respect from the fans, the players, and now his peers at other clubs...

Has he been sacked yet? I thought he had lost the dressing room after a big bust up?

Ultimately looks like he'll be in charge at the start of next season so I'll reluctantly back him, hope after all the excuses that another transfer window and pre-season does have the positive effects that have previously been implied.

Is there any chance that another team would come in for Leam?

Hull came in and poached Selles, could a team look at Richardson's stats and decide he's the man for them? Barnsley?

Alternatively, if a manager on Couhig's shortlist becomes available in the summer would that cause him to sack LR and appoint a new manager for 2026/27

Or could we even approach a manager who is currently employed?

Personally, I think peeps need to understand that LR will remain manager for the foreseeable future. Whatever 'foreseeable' translates into has yet to be seen. For the time being though, he's going nowhere. Much to Brogue's disgust.

It's interesting that you're so confident he won't be getting sacked or replaced, or amicably let go. I mean that genuinely as I'm honestly not sure what will happen.

I know Rob Couhig is really amitious and wasn't afraid to sack Hunt. But I also believe he knew and liked Richardson which is why he was appointed.

American owners, generally, tend to be fairly patient in terms of their managerial appointments. Pompey and Liverpool being just a couple of cases in point. The Mous has kept his position despite Pompey flirting with relegation for quite a while and recent reports suggest that Liverpool are going to stick with Slot into next season. Always felt as though it wasn't going to take much for Couhig to sack Noel whilst all the indications are that LR will be given the summer to bring in/release players as he sees fit.
