Rumour: Leo Bonatini

Courtney Friday tweeting this morning that we are looking at the possibility of loaning in the Wolves stiker as he has no future at the club.

Scored 12 goals in 29(14) apperances for them in their title winning season. Also has a pretty decent record in both Portugal and Saudi. Was in the Saudi league at the same time Gomes was managing there, so he likely knows of him.

Could be a very interesting move as has the ability to score at this level.

CF has been pretty spot on with this rumours this summer, so is clearly getting this fed from someone at the club, so would say this one has legs.

He has done a lot, lot, better than that over the past couple of weeks.

This would be a fantastic signing. Proven at this level, will suit Gomes' style. I won't get carried away off the back of a Tweet, but yes please.

As I've never heard of him, I just did the usual checking him out on YouTube.

His Wolves goals mostly appear to fall into the 'picking up scraps category, i.e. others do all the work and he bundles the ball in after a save or a ricochet.

I'm not saying that's a bad trait to have, but he's no Nelson O.... and doesn't Baldock offer the above?

Personally, I'd prefer a focal point forward with a bit about him as well as goals, like a Sa or Murray or Yann, but in Gomes we trust.

Yeah, 12 goals in the championship definitely equals a proven striker at this level

Don’t think he’s scored a goal since Dec 2017, not sure he’s what we need personally...

He was on fire for half a season before falling out of favour. Not dissimilar to Oliveira.

yeah, remember he was brilliant for 6 months, then tailed off.

Wouldn't say no tbh. I don't think we are likely to get any better

I've missed this...

But this would be a very good signing if we could pull it off.

Not sure what’s wrong with everyone on Twitter, but this would be a poor signing. He’s no better than Baldock... who’s behind Novakovic and Meite in my opinion.

Yes please to a good striker... no thanks to Bonatini!

He is clearly better than Sam Baldock.............

Seems like Howe said in an interview that we are looking for a striker

Would genuinely be interested in who people think we are going to pick up that would be ‘better than Sam Baldock’

We’ve no money to spend. We’re basically gambling on a 19 year old prem youth Teamer or someone who has failed in recent history like a Jordan Hugill (who is prob still too expensive)

On transfer fees.

We have money to go into the loan market hence trying to get Ejaria. Plenty of decent strikers out there potentially available for a loan. Bonatini just one of them.

loan fees, or big wages.

rumours are that even with the loans we have had, their parent clubs are again paying the majority, if not all

I think that would be the case with Bonatini too. There are a lot of out of favour strikers in the Premier League/at top Championship sides worth going for though, Bonatini just being one of them. We might be better off waiting until near the end of the loan window when clubs are desperate to offload, could get a better deal out of it.
