Gossip - Nelson Oliveira

With AEK as my second team I’d obviously love to see Oliveira return to Reading for a second stint.
He’s done relatively well in Athens, although he’s had less playing time due to a minor injury and more competition for places this season.
He’s got 6 months left on his deal, knows the club, plays as a lone striker. We could do much worse than make a cheeky offer in Jan to try and tempt him back to blighty.

I honestly would take any half decent hold up striker. He would be a very good shot.

He’d fit the Jason Roberts style signing that could be hugely significant. Would let us rest João or play a different way.

No thanks, had enough of dodgy hamstrings for this season

Oliviera has a bit of a reputation for not being a team player. That was fine when he was a guaranteed starter but now he’d have to be patient and might not even be guaranteed a spot on the bench.
On ability alone, yeah I’d take him.

Team player or not, I'd take him just for what he did away at Ipswich.
He's a bull in the Diego Costa mould. Pauno would call him a 'warrior.'

Valid point. But if we fail to go up this year, do you see both of them here next season?
Plus. If we were to do the unthinkable and go up, you need 4 quality strikers to stand any chance.

If we go up, we'll want better than Oliveira.
I think there's a fairly good chance all three will still be here. But if not we'll want better than Oliveira.

I'm not a scout.

Don’t think Nelson Oliveira would get a work permit. Work permit laws are very strict for EU as well as non EU citizens now. Unless he has British citizenship which I seriously doubt is the case.

It’s certainly not a bad suggestion. But I do think it’s more likely we’d go for someone happy to back up Joao solely as a target man - like Piggott at Wimbledon or similar
