NEWSFLASH...... Centre Half Set to Sign for Royals

It's looking like Darren Powell will be a Reading player within the next 10 days. However according to Dodger's media chums the deal is reliant on Fitzroy Hall signing for Palace from Southampton.

SDR believes discussions are taking place at present and subject to terms being agreed Hall will sign for Palace.

This then means that Powell will be a fourth choice centre half and therefore is hoping he can resurrect the Reading move which was muted towards the end of last season.

I understand that Palace will be looking for at least £300K if the Royals wish to close the deal.

Having viewed Reading's two opening games then finding a relpacement for the ageing Williams does seem to be a priority. Indeed both Adie and Ivar were muscled out by West Hams young bucks plus Teddy OAP at Upton Park last night.

SDR believes Darren Powell would be the right signing but will the Madman dish the dosh again?

Decision within the next 7/10 days. Real Facts in Real Time from the main mannnnnnnn

Although Powell would be an excellent signing, I'd rather have Sean Gregan as we'd also be getting a combative midfielder that we also need.

Sean Gregan would be great, but Powell would give us a very good option at the back. Not that I'm sayin I believe Dodge, just my opinions on the players!

The priority is a Centre Half. Sidders is meant to be the aggresive midfield players.

Gregan would be far too expensive for the Madman. He wouldn't be able to buy another pice of Art!

Gregan played centre half for WBA last season!

Agreed though, likely to be out of our price range.

I think Seasn Gregan would be top of anybodys list and he's being touted around for about 300k so I'd be upset if he was out of our price range, but I'm sure there will be a lot of clubs in for a player of his quality.

Caldwell from Sunderland is another name I've heard mentioned, apparantly he's fallen out with MaCarthy big time.

I wouldn't normally trust SDR, but I wouldn't be suprised if this was true and I am definitely hoping it is!

There is an element of truth to this, Powell has been told his chances are limited and Reading have kept a close eye on the situation for many months.

But Hall joining Palace or not wont make a difference!

Would it not make more sense for us to sign Fitz Hall, better to fight for promotion than against relegation at Palace surely?
