Re: The Retained List

What embargo/restriction will we be under if the takeover goes through? Are we still looking at free transfers/out of contract players only?

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Conference League 23/24

I think it would be more amusing if ten Hag is still Man United manager and Sancho turned up for pre-season training wearing a Champions League winners medal.

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

You just know that if they had gone up and had a dodgy start to the season he'd have been sacked by October anyway. Owner is a headcase.

Re: Ex Players

Bit harsh to call Convey hit and miss. Ok it took him a while to settle but then he was brilliant until the bad knee injury that he never seemed to fully recover from. Hardly his fault. +1 Also one of the few (only?) Reading players to play in a World Cup Finals competition (in 2006) Hahnemann was ...

Re: On this day

Black boots seem a bit more popular with the kids again at the moment. Even Jnr II who used to be keen on god awful coloured boots has a black pair at the moment. Still can't convince him that a nice pair of leather boots would protect his feet a lot better than a flimsy piece of plastic with a fabr...

Re: Changes In Football thread

Understood. File under sin bin then. Talking of sin bins, Jnr II's team had a bit of a maverick ref the other week. He decided sin bins were actually a thing and sent two players to the sin bin for 10 minutes towards the end of the match. Also gave a coach a yellow card for questioning it. Odd chap...

Those match day shirts will be quite the collectors item if the takeover falls apart and we go under.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Sanguine Nunez is exactly the sort of player who will move to La Liga, or anywhere really - he's a real Atletico type forward - and score 35 a season.

Like a 2020s Diego Forlan?

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Was always going to be a transitional season with the midfield overhaul. But they've been screwed by the players returning from injury since the cup win being way out of form.

The pilot who died, who seems to be not mentioned very often and gets forgotten about, was an innocent party too and had reservations about the condition of the plane being used beforehand. He may have had reservations about the plane but they didn't extend to owning up to not having a licence for ...

England never getting the world cup finals despite being one of the few nations with the infrastructure to be able to meet FIFA's ever increasing, over the top demands. Look at the Euros final at Wembley, All the infrastructure in the world doesn't help if our idiot fans give FIFA even the slightes...

Silver Fox Don't know if Stewie Atwell is bent

You can't call gays that anymore etc etc

We can't have Everton getting relegated, they've got a nice new stadium being built.

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Conference League 23/24

can I throw in another interesting law of the game that people often don't know? If a game goes to a penalty shoot out and one of the teams has had a red card during the match, the other team has to nominate a player that is excluded from the shoot out so that in case it goes way into sudden death ...

Re: Football Rel8d Gripes

Tossing a coin to decide which end a penalty shootout takes place in club competitions. The home side on the night has already had the advantage 30mins extra to try and score a goal with the majority of the crowd backing them. Should just default to being at the end where the away fans are.

Or the ref knew the rules about yellow cards in the shootout and the commentator didn't and then spent the rest of the shootout taking the Tory MP approach to being wrong by going on about the ref being shit rather than admit he didn't know the rules.

Would caveat that with Terry the Taxis tenure The season actually went ok until about Xmas, and then he left about a month before the end of the season. So it was only really two months of shit with him. One of the last matches I went to before moving up to Leeds was the 6-0 thrashing we got away a...

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Conference League 23/24

So I only watched the extra time and penalties in the City game but the commentator told us time and again how City had dominated the game without giving any credit to Real Madrid for their defending-were they lucky or like Palace on Saturday totally committed to keeping the ball out of the net? Ci...
