Re: The Non - League thread

Windsor 5-1 Abingdon Utd 1-0 down after 10 mins but another hat trick from the prolific Dan Roberts lead to a very comfortable victory against strugglers Abingdon. Sluggish start by Windsor and it took the goal to wake them up. After we equalised it was pretty much one way traffic thereafter. Abing...

Re: CONFIMRED - Matt Miazga

And this thread alone illustrates why I rarely visit this place any more. Looks to me as if Gomes has identified what's required in the squad and gone and filled the gaps. Bringing in 5 new players mid season is a risk - just look how well Tommy Burns did with the magnificent 7. The positive is tha...

Re: The Non - League thread

The good people of Eastbourne Town are extremely pissed off with Brighton & Hove Albion and the Sussex FA. They were due to meet this week in a Sussex Senior Cup Tie but Brighton called the game off as they could not raise a team (Under 23s of course). Had a non-league side called the game off, ...

Re: The Non - League thread

Didn't quite fancy another trip to Pride Park this weekend, despite the decent win last weekend. Instead, I will tick a new ground off by list: Fleet Town who will be playing Bideford. Hopefully they can get some points as they really are in need of them! I went there about 9 years ago and at half ...

Re: The Non - League thread

I see that Billericay Town have parted company with ANOTHER manager. The sooner Tamplin pisses off the better. What was once a good place to go, it's now nothing short of being a basket case of a club.

Re: The Non - League thread

Off to AFC Uckfield this afternoon. There is something about away games with Windsor that makes them memorable for one reason or another. Make it a cup game and then things really do take a turn for the more bizarre.

Re: The Non - League thread

Windsor 1-1 Tuffley Rovers Poor stuff again from Windsor, only equalising late on against bottom of the table Tuffley, and that with a complete mis-hit which wrong-footed the keeper and barely made it over the line from 6 yards out. The lack of consistency and quality in league games is beginning t...

Re: The Non - League thread

Planning on doing one of the Vase ties this weekend as well. Either going to Melksham or Bracknell. Bracknell will be the better game I think, but its not a 'tick'. What is the capacity at Bracknell? Cant be much more than 1500 surely there is very little room around the pitch? Might be an old fash...

There is also a £50k grant from the sponsors Buildbase that clubs can apply for. One grant per competition so that's one from the Vase and one from the Trophy. Clubs have until this Sunday to apply. The best 6 from each competition will be invited to Wembley Stadium to give a presentation based on w...

Re: The Non - League thread

That's one of the problems with NL football - the clubs in the North East tend to avoid applying for promotion as the travelling far outweighs any benefit of going up. Flackwell Heath also withdrew their application a couple of years back as they were placed in the SL South & West which meant ex...

Re: Is this the end for Madejski?

The daft old coot has always been a loose cannon when it comes to talking to the press. More so when he has had a bevvy or 3. That in one breath he says that he respects the decision to sack an underperforming manager but in the next saying that the same underperforming manager should have been giv...

Re: England - the future....

Probably the worst squad we have ever sent to a finals. Defensively it is a disaster waiting to happen and the midfield has been sacrificed to allow the FGS to get a game. If our front two get anything like decent service we might have a chance but I can't see anything other than another early exit.

not particlularly impressed with his record, but at the very least hes reading through and through, knows the club, and wont suffer people not putting effort in. When did he last play for Reading? How long is it since he was with the club? I doubt many would suggest the club is the same now as it w...

Re: Hal Robson-Kanu, Anton Ferdinand and Simon Cox to leave Reading FC

I remember Royal Slag going on about how brilliant Simon Cox was and how we should never have let him go. How did that turn out you rancid old slapper? Shame to see HRK go but no great surprise. I hoped he might have hung around until after the Euros but contract timing is everything and it was hard...
