Unless it's beneficial to stay until the end of the season, not sure when they're out of contract but could potentially negotiate a better deal leaving on a free/tribunal determined fee.Sutekh neither player is going to turn down these opportunities.
Also worth noting that for academy grown players there is no book value for them on the accounts, so it's 100% profit whereas if we sold a player we signed on a fee we would have to take the amortization hit now. (If you sign a player on a 5 year contract you can spread the transfer fee in the accounts over the 5 year period, if you sell that player you have to take all the cost outstanding in the year of sale).
It's how Chelsea have signed so many players, they're spreading the transfer fees over 5+ years (The Premier League have since capped this at 5 years) and then sold Mason Mount for £50m to Man Utd and taken that as £50m profit in year 1 as he has no transfer fee on their books.
Obviously cash and profit are not the same thing.
