Great result at the leaders home ground- Royals up to 8th in the table with just the 3 regular season games left. Top 8 earn home ties in play-offs. The 2nd Royals goal was scored by John Clarke not Okine-Peters.

Second time for the U21s this season. He got one prior to his loan to Ayr for two yellows.

I believe Senga is highly rated by the club and I expect we'll see him in cup games at least next season, but that's a habit he needs to cut out.

Another highly rated is Irishman John Ryan who has impressed for the U 21’s this season- has 2 very good feet !

Interesting. LB has been a minor issue; Dorsett and Mola are decent enough defensively but don't offer much going forward, which is one of the reasons our right side is so much more important when we attack. A specialist LB would be high up my shopping list if a takeover happens.

But there are Carson, Ryan and Clarke in the U23s any one of which could step up. I guess it will be up to Bowen, Selles, Hunt et. al to make the call on whether any of them are ready.

The Royals U 18’s are off the bottom of PL U 18 league by leapfrogging Norwich City who they beat 4-2 away this afternoon.

Brighton 0 Reading 1 6 mins Stickland
0-2 7 mins Wellens
0-3 37 mins OG
H-T 0-3
F-T 0-3
Superb result ! Now 7th in the table with just the 2 matches to play before the play-offs.
The win has ensured that the Royals will finish in the top 16 and be in the play-offs.
It also means that that if we are able to keep CAT 1 we will qualify for the PL International cup in 2024/5 ( providing rules stay the same with 12 CAT 1 teams in it)

For some context, Forest are 16th in the table 8 points behind Reading.

It looks a very strong side against Brighton there. Definitely think a few of those plus Tuma have a good chance of stepping up

Feels like plenty are on the cusp of having a 1st team impact. The pizza cup is a useful halfway house to see who may be ready. What does an XI look like? I'd suggest

CBC
Abrefa Strickland Dean Ryan
Senga Craig/Savage
Camara Elliott Ehibhatiomhan
Wareham

Anyone else I missed? I feel like that team could make an impact.

I would rather have Holzman in instead of Dean.
Another talent who suffered a nasty injury recently is Kiyan Coke Miles Smith- has a great future if he can overcome the injuries.

Rare midweek game for the U18’s tomorrow when they play Chelsea at Bearwood in a PL U 18 South match KO 1pm.
Chelsea are the South league leaders, so will be a major test for the Royals.

Chelsea are top of the South section but are second overall to ManU, Reading U18s are 13th of 13 southern clubs (and 26th overall) two points adrift of Norwich but with 2 games in hand.

Reading U 18’s league season went from bad to worse this morning when they lost to Southampton 9-0 at Bearwood. Only the FA Youth Cup run the highlight of an extremely poor season.
