Scunthorpe (A) Match Thread sponsored by Another Debut

by Unbelievable Jeff » 26 Aug 2014 19:03

Reading: Federici, Gunter (C), Cummings, Pearce, Cooper, Akpan, Kuhl, Blackman, Tanner, Cox, Mackie

Royals subs: Andersen, Griffin, Long, Stacey, Fosu, Edwards, Taylor

Happy with that side, full debuts for Cooper and Tanner

Looks like McCarthy is defo off.

Same as usual. No, but he'll claim he is.

He never is all there. Good comedy value though. Imagine if he actually is a real person.....

I like the team, but...

Unbelievable Jeff Royals subs: Andersen, Griffin, Long, Stacey, Fosu, Edwards, Taylor

That's a bench containing no central defenders, central midfielders or strikers.

OK, we have Blackman and Mackie who could play up front, as well as Taylor, Tanner and Stacey at a push. Taylor could also fill in as a central midfielder. But if Pearce has to go off then we're in big trouble.

Sensible bench: Andersen, Sweeney, Griffin/Long, Kelly, Stacey, Taylor, Samuel

It's a pretty damning assessment of Sweeney and Samuel that Adkins prefers younger players in different positions ahead of them.

Oh, and I would be surprised if we don't see at least one début from the bench so the club can talk about how incredible this record breaking season is. If things are going badly then I expect Fosu and one of the full backs will make it on.

Sweeney got pitch time ahead of Cooper in pre-season didn't he? He isn't injured too is he, he seems to have just vanished. Samuel not even getting on the bench is a bit baffling.
