PATRIQT
Millsy wot no senior

The best 11 is based on the teams you've seen play, as opposed to a RFC best 11.

Obviously but there are people replying here who have clearly seen Trevor play . I only remember him as a v young kid when I barely understood what was happening tbh but I remember thinking he was God. Perhaps if I was older I'd not be so impressed I guess

Been watching since 1976

Can't decide, so I thought I'd play attack vs defence (more or less - I gave Forster to the defence as he always worked best as a lone striker).

Death
Murty Gilkes
Osborn Gylfi Convey
Dixon Quinn Friday Kitson Senior

================

Shaka
Williams Hicks Hetzke Sonko Ivar
Osborn Sidwell Hurlock Shorey
Forster

Surely if you're playing with just one up front it's got to be Forster!

Only if you're playing counter attacking front to back and want someone to run off the shoulder. In which case you're wasting Little, Sigurdsson, Harper and McAnuff

Forster was good, but I'm not sure he makes my top 5 Reading strikers. Some positions there's a wealth of great options, others a wealth of decent options. And a few a bunch of not brilliant options.

Too many players to choose from, so many that I really can’t make my mind up.

Shocked to see that Trevor ‘Stabber’ Morley didn’t get a place in anyones Team, not even the bench. He was probably one of the classiest strikers to pull on a Reading shirt. Hard working, full of guile, could turn on a sixpence, and knew exactly where to put the ball.

Another surprise omission, especially from the older posters would be George Harris on the wing.

Did like Morley, but when you have the likes of Kitson, Quinn, Doyle, Forster, Cureton, Butler, he only really had one good season, so filed with Kermorgant more than those above.

But this is a thread about the best 11 and not those that have served the Club the best.
Morley was as good as any of the players that you have mentioned, but that’s just an opinion and everyone has their own opinion. I think the correct filing for Trevor would be the ‘ if only we had him when he was in his prime’.

Yeah iirc he managed to score around 20 goals for us in a very poor relegation threatened team.

Wasn't going to post a best 18 as so difficult to pick (as Spizz said), but pretty much +1 to all that (including the seasons) except Gunnarsson at RB, Upson and Sonko CB, Long up front.
Changes to the subs: Ingimarrsson in for Sonko, Cureton and Kitson in for Swift and Gooding. Couldn't leave Forster out so him in for Murty.

I'm not 100% sure about my selection so with more time i might come up with something different!

Edit - forgot about Long
