My interpretation from Scotland fans is an overwhelming view that the SFA shouldn't be involved in with bid - especially with only Hampden being part of the bid - and would rather the English FA just bidded by themselves. The only potential benefit was the complete redevelopment of Hampden, but that appears not to be happening even if the bid wins.

Turkey pull out of 2028 to join forces with Italy for 2032 which means England/Ireland will get it by default.

Looks like UK and Ireland are set to be confirmed as Turkey are withdrawing their bid.

Not really given the state that ground is in. Matches are still going to be played in Manchester, just at Man City.

Being originally from Northern Ireland I keep an eye on football over there, casement park is controversial. It's a gaa stadium but it's a wreck, also if NI we're to play in that part of Belfast it's hard to see them being welcome to put it mildly. So to sum up I think a lot of ni fans think it's a political white elephant, mind u they probably won't qualify anyway but if they do it'll be a laugh, 2016 in France was excellent!

Have to say I hope Southgate's gone by then as two years of no qualifying games but a load of pointless friendlies for him to "experiment" in doesn't exactly thrill.

I don't know if it's been 100% confirmed but don't all 5 hosts have to go through qualification, with 2 auto spots left open for Wales and Norn Iron when they miss out?

He will be finish after this tournament unless we win, in which case he'll have a crack at 2026 too. That would be a decade - I can't see him staying longer.

Yep, this.

Frankly, if I was the second most successful manager in English football history and had to put up with the bullshit about my ability to do the job after every single match, even ones where we win, or where we beat Italy (who in some quarters have become 'shit' now that we have bested them twice in a row), I'd have probably quit a long time ago.

Makes you think what England could have done to Italy in that Euros final had he not reverted to type and played the "odds" instead.
