Club is now embargoed so can't sign anyone else until the tax bill is paid again  and the embargo removed. Doesn't mean the club can't still carry out negotiations with players though. Hoping once the bill is paid again that deals for Walcott and Dean might have been sorted.

Witcoop now saying that the new player was someone not in the building and that the deal will now need to go on the back burner but more chance he'll go somewhere else as had other interest.

Just pay the fcuking tax bill, on time, every month, for fcuks sake.

South Coast Royal
Clyde1998
Hound Mbengue visa through so expect him to play on Saturday

Good. I imagine he'll be one of our starting centre-backs to start the season.

From what we have seen his concentration is not good enough to be a starting centre-back and I'm not sure what his best position is.
He does seem to be an energetic and committed player and those two facets go a long way towards making a player.

Hopefully he will improve with age as it looks as though we have signed him.

His best position is starting CB.

Hound Currently I’d be thinking it’s Mbengue +1 at CB. Holmes prob has just enough good will from last season to start alongside him.

Similar for me but it's close between McIntyre and Holmes. I think McIntyre is the smarter defender, but Holmes did better last season.

CB1: Holmes / McIntyre
CB2: Mbengue / Abbey

I know people are keen on Dean, but he's been part of a pretty perpetually dreadful Birmingham. We've had half a good season much more recently than they have. And he's over his prime, while ours aren't at it yet.

The key benefit of Dean would be an experienced head to play alongside our fairly inexperienced defenders. You'd hope he'll be good enough for a season in League One.

Pretty sure both Abbey and Dorsett are predominantly left footed

Not that it makes a huge difference but obvs would give a balance with Holmes/Mbengue

I've said it before and its worth repeating, Holmes now has 97 Championship starts. He may be young at 23, but he's not inexperienced anymore. That's the equivalent of more than two full seasons.

And McIntyre has 79 Championship starts, albeit somewhat sprayed more across three different positions. So not that far behind.

Daz Witcoop telling us Jay Stansfield was lined up on loan

20 year old from Fulham. Scored 9 and assisted 7 for Exeter in L1 last year. Lots of yellow cards

Sounds like him and Florini would be two very good deals to get through. Stansfield sounds like a fairly big, hard working aggressive striker - can definitely see what we are aiming to do

Tom Davies ex Everton training with Bristol Rovers, would add some bite into central midfield

 Seems to have fallen off a cliff, thought he was going to develop into a very decent player.

Trying to remain positive this could all still happen once the tax bill is paid. I am sure Bowen and co must have all known this was about to happen. Maybe I am just being naive and Dai has just fed all of us them a pack of lies. Time will tell.

And would have got one hell of a reception from the Exeter crowd as he is the son of their ex-player, Adam, who sadly passed away through cancer while on their books in 2010. They "retired" the no.9 shirt as a result and only returned it to use last season when Jay returned on loan.

You never know perhaps Reading will get the damn bill paid quickly and just maybe the deal might be able to be resurrected as would be terrific signing.

Are tweets from League One news just a load of bollox? One has recently said that Fiorini is on the verge of signing. They must be having a oxf*rd laugh.

Yeah they just use the same template

Xxx is on the verge of signing for xxx. Tell us your thoughts etc etc

Basically they put it in front of any solid rumour

Have watched Stansfield's developing career with interest. He is from Tiverton and came through the Exeter Academy. He is very highly rated in Devon and was sold to Fulham for big money and loaned back to Exeter. Would be a good addition IMO.

Can’t claim to know a lot about him but a quick google search suggests he’d be an ideal player in the Selles system

And a solid L1 season behind him

Again, never heard of him, but having learnt about his dad, sad stuff.
