Agreed. Weir would be a good signing for us; had a very impressive season at Morecambe last term. I believe it is Portsmouth and Derby who are also interested in him.

Even with Fiorini and Savage, that still leaves us a little light in that area, in terms of natural midfield players anyway. We all know we can't rely on Hutch.

Savage, Wing, and Rushesha is perfectly adequate numbers wise if we’re playing with a midfield two. If we signed Fiorini or Weir then we would have plenty of depth. Hutchinson, McIntyre/Mbengue, and Craig and Senga can provide cover if worst comes to worst, or if we decide to change to a three.

Agree. We've got to stop trying to grab all the cookies in the jar to bring in loanees etc who aren't a big improvement, develop our own players and keep the squad tight.

Forgot about Rushesha to be honest. Probably will be enough with one of Weir or Fiorini, I can imagine it's probably the case of one or the other, rather than both. If it is both though, then we are decent enough in that area then.

Hutch did well on Saturday to be fair and always advocated that McIntyre "could" be a decent player in there as well, allowing us to change the defence a little bit which I think still needs doing. Whether we'd use both in there is a different story though.

Hound Darren Witcoop is linking us with BHA midfielder Jensen Weir on loan

Decent enough stats from last year

10 goals and 5 assists in 43 games from midfield in L1 for a relegated side - that is pretty damn impressive and just the kind of loan we should be after.

Witcoop hasn't specifically mentioned a club in his tweet just used hashtags for I assume interested clubs, Pompey and Derby being the other 2, so wouldn't think this one is close, if it were to happen.

He was 15 (he's 21 now) when he made his professional debut in the League Cup for Wigan. signed a 3 year deal for Brighton in 2020 so presume he's extended that deal recently.

Also he's another that's played for Cambridge in the last 2 seasons and obvs. has 44 apps at Morecambe last year. Capped at all England youth levels. With 10 goals last season, would presume he's an attacking midfielder rather than defensive.

Unless it’s Tyler Blackett coming back.

Will get the fans excited that one

Tbf he looks to have potential. Can’t him see fuelling the promotion push though

Won't be Blackett, surely, as he's under contract at Rotherham (played in their defeat against Stoke on Saturday).

Should be Bindon, who I reckon will be a squad player this season (at least early this season).

Likely Bindon but the "come back here" bit...

Bindon definitely one of those signings where its low risk and he's only 18 - so likely to be more focussed on PL2 minutes this year but if we tie him down for 3 or 4 years, should have sell on value.

But please Reading Twitter admin - no more use of Katie effing Hopkins....

You'd have to wonder what kind of player would choose to come here...at the end of each month frantically logging into the online bank account to see if the wages have cleared doesn't sound like much fun.

Hopefully that result last night may help push a few deals over the line

We should have a look at who is on the books of Wassermann and see who is still available...

As well as the Walcott update, your man Witcoop confirms we are still after Weir, Forini and Stansfield - unlikely to get all 3 due to other interest but seeing who they can get.

Good news. 2 of those 4 would be good; anything more a bonus

Not heard or seen anything recently but could see Fornah working out quite well under Selles. May be one to be resurrected if we don’t get hold of current targets

I can quite imagine the reception on here if Nick Blackman was re-signed, esp. at the age of 33 (34 in November).
