Snowflake Royal Key thing for me now is to give a few fringe players some.sub minutes and maybe a start, not too many at once, but we need to see who we want to contiñue to develop and who we can't rely on to step up next season..

So I want to see at least one 15 min plus sub appearance from the following:
Carson
Rushesha
Wareham
Camara
Senga

A start would be nice, but not all at once!

And at least 30 minutes for Dorsett at CB. Would like him to get a start. And think Abrefa should get a start too.

Seems reasonable. I’ve liked Rushesha whenever I’ve seen him but he’s not quite broken through

I’d maybe try to get a game or two for Akande and Tuma who seem the other bright lights in the u21. Ryan possibly

Need to sort the goalkeeping side of things out , way too heavy on the gk’s.

When bouzanis contract expire? 2025? Ffs

Button
Pereira
Bouzanis
Anderson
CBC

I believe button is our highest paid player now. We should look to get rid in the summer. Stick with pereira as number one he’s miles better than button. Offload bouzanis and keep Anderson and cbc as back ups

I expect we'll see Andresson supported in finding a new club, released from his contract. Or loaned again. Can’t see him playing a part in first team squad.

Same for Bouzanis.

CBC out on loan to L1 or NL is the obvious choice. He really needs competitive games at this stage in his development. Being our back up isn’t much help and No 1 is a big ask.

Keeping Pereira is a no brainer, but he's also the easiest to move on.

I struggle to see us shifting Button. I can't see a Champ club come calling. And I can't see a L1 club wanting to match his deal with us. He's an ok keeper and would make a solid experienced No 2 though. Maybe MLS or Qatar?

Then next in step for third choice is Collins?

So next season

Pereira
Button
Collins
CBC - loan
Andresson - release/loan
Bouzanis - release/loan

That's pretty strong for L1.

Alternatively the less good option is
Button
Bouzanis
Collins
CBC - loan
Pereira - release
Andresson - release/loan

Yep, we're stuck with Button. Player at the end of his career, probably on a wage he'll struggle to find elsewhere and there won't be a long list of suitors for him. He's a handy enough 2nd choice. Glad Pereira has had a chance and stepped up. A month ago I'd have said a new keeper is a summer priority, but not any more.

Just reviving this because Squad Bible got overtaken by RW homophobia.

Will quote and update the OP with any updates from others I've missed post lunch. And then try to turn it into what the squad is likely to look like next season.

Goalkeeper
I'd prioritise trying to find two out of three of Andresson, Bouzanis and Button a new club. Hopefully this frees up the squad space to extend Pereira.
Then try to find a L2/Conf loan for Boyce-Clarke. And use Collins/Norcott as third choice.

Defence
100% Yiadom sees out his contract here. I'd probably extend one of Abrefa or Rushesha, but being brutal, not keep both

Mola has definitely earnt a new contract to play LB. Carson has the potential but really needs to gain confidence. NGW is certainly gone. Dorsett has been a good stop gap, but imo we shouldn't plan for him at LB.

Bindon and Mbengue are obviously our first choice pairing and we should try to keep both and definitely at least one. Would try to move Dean on, but he's useful experience. Would extend Dorsett and use him here. Also John Clarke unless his injury has ruined him.

Midfield
Solid base with Smith, Savage, Elliott and Knibbs. Craig is one of two players we should pull out all reasonable stops to give a new contract. Then a more senior enforcer like Hutch (but not him, time to move on) coming in should round us out nicely. Rushesha hasn't done enough to extend here imo.

Forwards
We should do everything we can to get Azeez to re-sign. After that, Camara hasn't really kicked on, so not sure I'd renew. Wouldn't bring Mukairu back. Kelv isn't really a winger, though he fills in well.

This for me is the key recruitment area, on the flanks.

As for striker, we have Smith, I'd like to see Kelvin play with him here more. And Wareham looks worth keeping around. Probably time for Jahmari to move on.

Basically, main focus flanks, but we could just generally strengthen all over where we can find the right player.

Any ideas as to when we publish the retained list?

I appreciate that the potential change of ownership will cause a delay, but I saw that Bristol Rovers have published theirs in the last day or so (they have released a young left back, Gordon, who looked ok against us last month).

No idea when our R & R list will be published, like you I assume it will be as late as possible/after the take-over.

For anyone interested, this site seems to be pulling together all the release/retained lists for League One (and the other leagues), if anyone spots any gems we should be considering:

If he is not good enough for the Addicks, I doubt he is good enough for us now.(pity though).

I know a number of sides have done it already. We may not do it until the U21s have finished their season - as it's a list of all professional players. You don't want any U21 player to be publicly announced as leaving when they're still having to play matches for you.

I'm guessing age came into it - he's 32 this summer. Charlton could probably get a younger, better CB for the same money.

At 31 it makes sense for Charlton to be looking at a replacement.

But that's young enough to be worth a squad place in our very young defence imo. One or two year deal.

28 starts last season. Looked fine when we played them.

Wouldn't be surprised if we end up being one of the last, if not the very last, to release our retained list.

Very good point, there will be a few still playing with the U21s who may be OOC in June, so we won't want to announce they are out the door whilst that is ongoing. Though imagine at this stage we would be looking to play those we plan on (or hope on) keeping only.

Add to that the fact that we have no idea what the budget looks like for next season as we don't yet know for sure who the owner is going to be when everyone gets back off holiday and can see our retained list being late May.

But we’re obviously forced to shop in a smaller, more restricted pool than them. They can spend money. Plus they may have younger players coming through, and be looking to free up money for wages.
