Bit of a flattering result that one but I'll take it!
I was worried when I saw the line-up with Kanu and Hunt as wingers and only Shane up top. However, we were comfortably on top until we scored (another perfect header from Long) - then we seemed to back off and let them back in (bit like the Millwall game). In the second half Ipswich were all over us and I was convinced we'd do well to get yet another 1-1 draw. Then when it got into the last 10 minutes they started trying too hard and we started getting the break-outs. Hunty got fouled in the perfect position for a Harte special but unfortunately we were all side-on so it was difficult to tell just how special that was. Queue the Ipswich fire drill...! Hunty's clinical 1-on-1 finish from Longy's lovely through ball should have been the icing on the cake - just a shame we had to concede that excellent goal from Wickham (he's going to be some player...).
Too late to remember everyone's contribution so just a MoM this time: Hunty for doing a great job slightly out of position.

Such a piss poor turnout of fans for this game although not surprised considering the ticket prices and our form at Portman Rd over the years. A great result against a very timid Ipswich defiantly lacking Jimmy Bullard. Shane Long showed plenty of awareness tonight, bagged our 1st , Continued well after taking a knock. He just keeps scoring. Harte's freekick was superb, almost a carbon copy of Gylfi's freekick here last season. Noel did well when 1 on 1 with the keeper to drag him wide and slot it home. Special mention to Brynjar, showing some silky skills to take the piss out of the Ipswich players time and time again. Please don't let him go on loan. 3 wins on the spin gives us great confident momentum leading up to the City game on Sunday, We had a cracking week last week, Make it a superb fortnight. 1st time I've witnessed a Reading victory at Portman Rd in 6 visits so I'm happy tonight.

Shane Long took his season's tally to 20 goals as Reading kept alive their promotion hopes with a win at Ipswich. Long put the visitors ahead when he evaded his marker to head Brian Howard's corner in at the near post. Reading made sure of the win when Ian Harte curled an unstoppable shot into the top corner and Noel Hunt ran around Marton Fulop to tap into an empty net. Connor Wickham shot low from an acute angle in stoppage time but it was merely consolation for Ipswich.

Ipswich were without midfielder Jimmy Bullard, who scored both goals in the win at Cardiff at the weekend, and the home team sorely missed his presence. The visitors were forced into an early changed when captain Matt Mills limped off to be replaced by Ivar Ingimarsson. But Mills's absence had little affect on Reading as Long struck in the 18th minute for his 12th goal in his last 15 games. The Republic of Ireland international nearly doubled his tally for the evening when he turned his defender, Gareth McAuley, and sent a low drive, which Fulop did well to keep out. Jason Scotland was replaced by Tamas Priskin as Paul Jewell searched for an answer and Gareth McAuley went close with a header from a corner but Harte killed the game off with his 82nd-minute strike. With a minute remaining, Hunt made it three for Reading before Wickham's added time consolation.
