Re: Will we get found out again?

I said on the Wycombe match thread that I wanted to reserve judgement until we actually took the lead in a game - the transfer activity suggested we are building a team that will be dangerous on the counter with fast interplay through the middle - any width will come from full/wing backs rather than...

What is it that makes Brazilian keepers so good in shoot outs?!

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (a) sponsored by Lawrie Sanchez

I'm going to reserve full judgement until I see what we are capable of doing when we go 1-0 up in a game.

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Platypuss If you think we're bad at playing out from the back then check out our goals in the Newcastle game!

My favourite bit was the NUFC CB berating his colleagues for giving the ball away for one of the early goals, then proceeding to so the exact same thing.

A good win but they looked woeful

Re: José Gomes whelmguage

I'm still not drinking the Koolade. I found his post match on Saturday a bit Adkins-esque. We train well, we have good movement, we were positive, etc etc but the reality was we didn't play well nor create enough chances. I think with this transfer investment and chicanery by Uncle Dai & Big Ni...

Re: CONFIMRED - Ovie Ejaria

I still don;t understand about 10 days ago we were under a soft embargo, and now we've spent millions in fees and wages, without really letting anyone go, well certainly not in the numbers we were expecting. Is Mr Dai going shot or bust, hoping to get out of the Chump and so escape any retribution ...

Re: CONFIMRED - Ovie Ejaria

I think this will prove one of the more shrewd signings of this window. We have signed a lot of players ahead of midfield in Boye, Joao and Puscas but still looked light for players getting the ball into the final third, which mostly rested on Swift and potentially Olise. Looking forward to many mor...

Re: Rumour: Lucas Joao

Viewed as a JDB replacement, this is probably an upgrade.

I'm not convinced we will pay anything near £5m, the rumours seem to suggest there are loads of add ons for lofty goal targets, making team of the season etc. If we end up paying those then he will have been worth every penny

Re: Where will we finish?

I'm guessing Charlton (no money, lost couple of their best players - Bielik and Bauer), and possibly Wigan (no signings, lost James and Powell) could really struggle Wigan have left their business late, but it looks like some quite smart signings in the 48 hours: - Joe Williams is a promising holdi...

Re: Where will we finish?

So actual goals improved but xG didn't? I know which one I'll take thanks ya bunch of nerds I'm confused by these takes - PP literally reference their reasoning for their view. Secondly, xG has been shown to far better explain/predict future results than previous results has. That's a justifiable r...

Re: Where will we finish?

Paddy Power : José Gomes continues as manager and although results improved with his appointment, performances didn’t, with Reading being the third worst team in the league since he was hired, according to xG. Would be good if these people actually did some research So actual goals improved but xG ...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

It's certainly an intriguing move - probably the most intelligent club in the championship buying from the most intelligent club in the PL. Usually Liverpool manage to extract eye watering fees for young english talent (reported £16m profit on Solanke after only 550 mins of PL gametime, £18m for Ing...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

True. But you’d think MM and MM could pair up fairly successfully if LM was out, whilst if Rino is out, we’ve no obvious replacement Yep this is the key question for me - not necessarily who is first on the team sheet, but whose absence would be most painful. I agree losing Rino would hurt us more ...

Re: CONFIMRED - Charlie Adam

Be honest. Did you go back to that season as it the most recent one hes been any good? Assuming this is based on the understat viz I posted? Genuinely no - its the best data source for this kind of profile, and I preferred the sample of 1500 older mins to 400 mins (that same chart for the following...

Re: CONFIMRED - Charlie Adam

This debate is a tough one - both of those radars (and subsequent analysis) are based on small samples, and we don't know causality (he either was struggling with injuries and fitness leading to bad numbers when on the pitch, or was struggling for minutes because he was poor on the pitch). If it was...

Real shame this. A previous posters have said. Criminally underused by Stam and his injury co-incided with a bad run. Never really had a chance since (partly due to injuries) Great for both for both parties as Millwall absolutely play to his strengths. Wish him well Actually was thinking the opposi...
