Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

According to my Boro supporting colleague Warnock has always said that missing out on managing Boro is something he's always regretted. So basically add Boro to a list of about 91 clubs Warnock has always been desperate to manage. We may well be the only club he doesn't want to manage. He would of ...

Old Man Andrews Think you may have missed the long running joke about Gareth Ainsworth m8.

Yes, that would explain it.

Re: ArsenaLOL

Would think that Eddie Howe should be considered for the role. Eh????? Why? He is nowhere near the level to manage a huge club like that, he would get eaten alive. Arsenal need a proven winner, someone who can come in and transform the club. They need a big personality and a big ego. I think they s...

Re: ArsenaLOL

Confirmed. Nuno Espirito Santo was heavily rumoured to be in line to take over earlier this week, and didn't exactly deny it in his press conference. So I think he'll probably take over. Would be a poor appointment that shows a lack of ambition. The job he has done with Wolves isn't that remarkable...

Re: England - the future....

Neither Winks nor Rice look quite good enough to me and Rice looks more likely to develop into a international defensive midfielder. Winks strikes me as the type of player who if this was the 80s would spend 3-4 years in and around Spurs first team before getting transferred to Norwich or Ipswich an...

Re: VAR

They need to bring in an "umpire's call" type of thing for the offsides. An on field decision stands unless the attacker is more than say 10cm offside/onside. Would clear up the clear and obvious errors and less time spent pissing about checking to the nearest mm.

Re: The Manager Sack Race/Merry-go-Round

I think it might be the latter tbh, I think he will finally pack it in. Yeah, he's 70 and said he was retiring at the end of this season anyway. Would imagine he's done and will take up a comfy seat in the Sky Sports studio. Hasn't he been retiring for the past 10 years? I don't think he'd cope not...

Re: VAR

Not sure that tinkering with it mid-season is the greatest idea. You've got to have a standard set of procedures for the whole season otherwise pundits will bleat on about stuff getting given that wasn't before.

Re: Weekend Football

I read a stat this morning that Vardy has now scored 19 goals in 21 games since Rodgers took over at Leicester. His chance conversion is also at 45%. That's pretty outstanding, and Rodgers probably deserves a fair amount of credit for it too. Indeed. And Rodgers remains a terrific manager under-rat...

Scutterbucketz Should have scored that.

That's what happens when you've spent a few months hammering goals passed the U13 keeper.

Thought they've said they're not going to use a pitch side monitor for the refs to look at incidents again?

Re: England - the future....

Tyrone Mings, Clive Tyldesley and Ian Wright have all impressed tonight. Don't agree about Tyldesley especially in first half. Quite happy to criticise the presence of an Italian UEFA official citing recent abuse of Kean and Lukaku in Serie A. But conveniently not mentioning Sterling got racially a...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

Given how this has gone down I hope Bowen goes full troll mode and starts Gunter as right back on Saturday.
Sure its particularly uninspiring, but isn't the Reading way to give new players and manager at least 45mins of their first match before the motivational booing starts?

Re: England - the future....

Winks is just a very home grown Spursy type of midfielder in my opinion. The type that in the 80s would've ended up at Norwich having failed to push on.

Re: Congratulations, you are the new Reading manager

As Reading still haven't announced a new manager here is your opportunity to pitch for the job. What formation would you play (a different one for home and away matches perhaps)? Which players would you drop and why? Are there any of the exiled players you would reinstate or anyone you want to prom...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

Just shooting off the hip here but something I've been mulling over. Obviously it's devastating if your club goes under - but all this talk of "this shouldn't be allowed to happen to clubs with over 100 years of history" rather exacerbates the problem. It's the "banks are too big to ...

Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

genome How the fcuk did that pass the EFL's test?

He paid the £1 in cash and didn't take a loan from the bank to do it.

The fact that the Football League made Shaun Harvey its Chief Executive tells you everything you need to know about how much its cares about the financial state of clubs.
