Re: Predictions for this weekend

Saint Steve is going to be there!!!!! Bindon will be player of the season. Wing will win goal of the season. Couhig will be introduced as the new chairman of the club before kick-off.. It will be horribly close, but we will just miss out on the play-offs, with Reading winning but Orient also doing s...

Re: CONFIMRED - The 2nd final countdown

I remember Sir John on the pitch announcing the sale of the club. He didn't get very far before he was drowned out by applause, thanking him for all he'd done for the club. Very emotional. Even if it's announced before hand, if Couhig were to come on the pitch to introduce himself, that would be an ...

Re: CONFIMRED - The 2nd final countdown

Latest from Twitter for those who don't use: HK saying announcement today or tomorrow latest. Someone else claiming to be ITK saying RC at game on Sat and all club social media stuff has been completed. BUT James Earnshaw saying work still being done on deal.... Huang Kad is at the game on Sat, eve...

Re: CONFIMRED - The 2nd final countdown

There's usually a warning about pitch invasions before a game when there's a possibility of promotion /play-offs, cup final etc. Shouldn't read too much into the statement and how it might pertain to the change of ownership. Would be nice to see it applied evenly - the celebrations in Wrexham this w...

Re: Goal of the season 2024/25

Every single one of the ten are truly magnificent.

I voted Savage against Colchester - he hasn't even been able to fully get the ball under control before he strikes it. Outrageous.

Re: why don't more people from Ethnic Minorities support Reading?

I've spoken to people at work of South Asian who have been a bit wary of going to matches, especially with their kids. I've always told them I think they would be fine at the SCL. Not sure I would be quite as confident about away games though. Years ago I saw a woman in hijab with her two kids in th...

Snowflake Royal So.... 9-0 vs Barnsley anyone?

No, Huddersfield favour!

Just seen their form over the last two months. I knew it was bad, but not that bad. No way they're beating Orient.

They could scrape a draw though. It's a funny old game.

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

Couhig only paying £6m upfront reeked of bullshit. Especially as he'd already put £5m into the club before the sale fell through. Combined that's already £11m and almost half the total fee. i know what you mean, but £6m cash + £5m in loans not needed to be paid back as part of the transaction = £11...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

Yeah, I guess its important to remember Dai is essentially disqualified – its not really like he can drag it out to see if we get promoted and then opt to keep the club. But I still think there is some possibility of him changing the valuation* if Reading reach or even win the playoffs, and I hope ...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

Extended-Phenotype Anyone else remotely concerned that if we do secure a top 6 finish, Dai will drag this out further to see if we get promoted?

Only in the "anything is possible" way of looking at things. I think Dai knows the game is up now.

Hound Most predictable statement there

As everyone expected

It was expected, but the longer we had to wait, the more nervous I became.

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

John Madejski's Wallet I'd piss myself laughing if Dai agrees to sell to Coughig, who then goes on to fail the FPP test

He's already passed it once. Can't imagine that much would have changed.

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

I expect that we will hear something official at the end of the day; I am slightly surprised we haven't done so far to be honest............... I was pretty sure it would be announced at 10 today. Cannot really imagine that anything is still being decided today that would affected what the EFL do n...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game - 24/25 page 225 onwards

Sutekh Nigel Clough simply said the Mansfield performance was error strewn, pathetic and inexcusable.

That should motivate them to improve

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

I do expect an extension until the end of the season, but looking on the bright side, if Mansfield was RFCs last ever game, at least we went out on a high. Still think we will be excluded from the play offs if we make top 6 and if the sale has not gone through by early May. I'm struggling with how ...

Yeah but it was a good way for B'muff4Eva to plug his podcast again. Bournemouth fan plugging his YouTube channel again  Shame the mods won't do anything about it. That's unfair. He's not breaking any rules. I was a bit sceptical about him, but fair play to the lad - he's got more out of Couh...

Re: Nostalgia thread

I still remember one of my favourite weeks in 02/03, I think around February time. On Tuesday, we travelled away to Sheffield United who were third and had an awesome home record, and came back from 1-0 down to win 3-1. I listened at home on the radio as it was a school night, and we leapfrogged th...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

I see three options for a new owner of Reading FC: - Just do what every other League 1 club does and stay within tight financial guidelines and hope you're simply better at running a club than our competitors. - Spend big like Birmingham and gamble on getting promoted, - Or they can divert their inv...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

Although it’ll be good if Couhig has managed to get a deal over the line at last, I’m kind of hoping it’ll be Roger Smee coming to the rescue once more. Would imagine it could only be someone who has been through exclusivity, but I get it: with Smee you'd think he was more of an emotional attachmen...
