Re: You can’t say I didn’t warn you!

Our Academy and facilities would not look out of place at clubs like Brighton and Crystal Palace, and probably surpass some lower PL clubs like Bournemouth. The problem is they're massive white elephants for the club we are, and nobody has scaled them back to reflect a decade of stagnation. It was ...

Re: You can’t say I didn’t warn you!

It’s this sort of short term thinking that destroys football clubs for years. It's overspending that destroys clubs. There's a reason we're the only L1 club with a Cat 1 Academy. Realistically how many fans would prefer Reading to swap the academy youth system for the approach Brentford took up? Bu...

Re: You can’t say I didn’t warn you!

I’m sure he is considering downgrading the academy as well tbh. Any sensible own would at least consider it. We’re not really using it this year player wise and it costs a fortune It’s this sort of short term thinking that destroys football clubs for years. I would like us to keep a Cat 1 Academy b...

Re: You can’t say I didn’t warn you!

Given that the document isn't actually signed by anyone from Rehne - only Couhig for both Bearwood and Redwood, is this potentially just a house keeping exercise - i.e. when the full deal was struck, Bearwood wasn't paid for, so Rehne kept a security over it and this is just a formal logging of this...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

The bitter tears of indignation and envy. They're obsessive about how irrelevant they think Newcastle are. Until you live down this way nobody realises how intense (and daft) the rivalry and animosity is between Saints and Pompey which was originally based on the competition for business between th...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game - 24/25 page 225 onwards

Fair enough, I thought they also took 'covering players' into consideration but that may just be pundit bollocks. Either way it was a dopey tackle that he arguably didn't need to make. That is more if a foul takes place outside the box then the ref can take in if there is cover that could likely ha...

Re: FA Youth Cup 2025/6

Reading v Chelsea FA Youth Cup 4th round is on Wednesday 14th January at the SCL KO 7pm We now have a totally unnecessary clash of fixtures with Chelsea 1st team playing Arsenal in the 1st leg of the EFL cup semi. Surely enough time if the will is there to find another day for the game !! I would b...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

That really is a low level for these 2 to be playing at which implies to me that they have no longer term future with us. From what I saw of young Basil he is quick but that is about it and he is not now even getting a game for Malta. Or it is getting them 1st team minutes at a time when the Academ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

Jacob Borgnis has extended his loan spell at Slough by a further month. In addition he has been joined at the club by Basil Tuma for a 1 month loan spell. That really is a low level for these 2 to be playing at which implies to me that they have no longer term future with us. From what I saw of you...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (h)

Good win. Wilshere looks to be building an attractive footballing outfit, with some lovely passing movements and interplay. I think that will prove to be a very decent 3 points. Wish we could get a manager to build an attractive footballing outfit, instead we have someone wanting to play football f...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (h)

LR has got 10 points from his first 6, which includes a trip away to the team in 2nd. Performances not great yet; agree we seem to be treading water until the window opens, but we're pulling in points anyway. Peterborough was the only poor result, but this team has poor results in it. What is mad i...

Re: Scottish premier league.

With only 1 round of games to go, Hearts will be top at Xmas. When was the last time someone other than the Old Firm led the way at Christmas? AI tells me it was Aberdeen in 93, then when I looked up the results between them and Rangers that season it turned out not to be true  Aberdeen did f...

Decent player at this level - did he play with Marriott at Posh?

Scored 7 in 17 apps in the Turkish 2nd Division this season.

Re: Rumour: Hugh Parker

So signed from UCD in the LoI in Feb - where he appeared 34 times (9 starts) scoring 2 and assisting 3 times.

At Hull - 5 games in the Prem Cup (according to Transfermarkt) with 3 goals and 2 assists.

And that's it.

Could be a genius move, could be pointless.

Re: Richardson out

It's almost as if, and bear with me here, if there are structural issues with a squad that has been playing poorly, it may - just may need more than just a new manager to improve things. It will involve amending the squad again to try and get the balance right. Naturally confidence will hardly be h...

Whore Jackie Called up by Zimbabwe for AFCON. Presumably means we won't see him at the SCL until the New Year now.

Was probably expected and may explain why he hasn't seen more minutes.

Winston Biscuit nice little run they are on since 1st Oct.

5 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss.

It's almost as if giving a manager a little bit of time can have a positive impact. No European football is probably helping too.

Obviously a win against Wolves this year is expected.

Re: Fixtures 2025/26

Eyes on Accrington Stanley vs Mansfield this weekend in the FA Cup. If Mansfield win then our match with them on Saturday, 10th January will be postponed. Still no date set either for the Wigan (A) match that was postponed last month. Had a look and unfortunately we can't play Wigan on the 10th, if...
