Re: Expecting two to be announced today/very soon

From where, Twitter? 30 is a decent age for a CB People who have seen him play, one would presume? He played for a Bolton side that were good going forward, but looked soft at the back. Played three games in about the last calendar year, reportedly had two injuries recently. Signed for Swansea in t...

Re: Expecting two to be announced today/very soon

Agreed, seems like a very risky and short term signing. Lots of murmers his legs have gone... pace gone. Getting on. Re: Expecting two to be announced today/very soon

Update; ‘’Striker is a loan with a view to perm, CB medical will complete tomorrow…’’ CB is santos. And it’s a permanent transfer  In brogue we trust 8) Santos on a perm deal seems like decent business. Loan with with view to perm for a striker suggests a player OOC in the summer, Keane fits...

2/4 loans going back early is a pretty damning indictment of our recruitment in the summer.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

I always enjoy when football in one countrys takes words or expressions from another.was reminded of 2 in the last day or so: In italy managers are referred to as 'Mister', taken from when the English were first helping to professionalise the game over there also this week is an 'Englische Woche' i...

Re: Start date for EFL season 2026/7

Some common sense to have the League Cup on the weekend prior to the start of the league season - may encourage a lot more people to go to these games. Yep makes total sense - I've been a fan of Scottish Football playing a lot of their League Cup before the league season starts - a low risk competi...

Re: Realistic January CF targets

Also, the fact that MOM hasn't gone back to Brighton yet, suggests he may well still be around for the rest of the campaign - so that needs to be taken into account as well.

Re: Realistic January CF targets

How do you think we re-signed Pereira and Wing, and signed Stevens, O'Connor, Burns, Jacob, Fraser, Doyle, Marriott, O'Mahoney, Ritchie, Lane, Williams and Rinomhota, all players other teams at our level would be interested in signing? This - the question isn't are we able to compete for signings b...

Re: We're ManchesteROFL United, we do what we want

Defeat in the 3rd round of the FA Cup means United are 1 of only 2 sides (Bournemouth the other) who will play the bare minimum number of games that an English Club can play in a full season.

They will only play 40 games this season.

Re: Realistic January CF targets

Most L1 and L2 transfers are free. We've already spent money on signings this season. If you think we should have many hundreds of grand/millions to spend on players, I assume you missed the last decade and a bit. Actually, I've not missed the last 45 plus years thanks. Sorry to assume after finall...

Re: Realistic January CF targets

Being linked with Bolton's Victor Adeboyejo. Between us and Mansfield apparently, could be a shrewd signing. Has been good at this level before. Off to Mansfield apparently. Not played a first team game in nearly a year at this level so not sure he would have been someone we were going to push the ...

Re: Rumour: Tom Pearce

Brogue looks like he's off to chesterfield to link up with his former manager paul cook

No surprise really - he left Montreal to come back to the UK and Chesterfield is the furthest south he will ever have played in England I believe. So old manager and probably gets to live near friends/family.

Re: Realistic January CF targets

Mention on Twitter (is that your account Brogue?) that we have enquired after Keane If we did get him and Santos in I think we’d be in great shape tbh If we have enquired, it could be a good short term move, he is 33 next week after all. Experience is good but need to ensure we don't go too far one...

Re: You can’t say I didn’t warn you!

Our Academy and facilities would not look out of place at clubs like Brighton and Crystal Palace, and probably surpass some lower PL clubs like Bournemouth. The problem is they're massive white elephants for the club we are, and nobody has scaled them back to reflect a decade of stagnation. It was ...

Re: You can’t say I didn’t warn you!

It’s this sort of short term thinking that destroys football clubs for years. It's overspending that destroys clubs. There's a reason we're the only L1 club with a Cat 1 Academy. Realistically how many fans would prefer Reading to swap the academy youth system for the approach Brentford took up? Bu...

I’m sure he is considering downgrading the academy as well tbh. Any sensible own would at least consider it. We’re not really using it this year player wise and it costs a fortune It’s this sort of short term thinking that destroys football clubs for years. I would like us to keep a Cat 1 Academy b...

Re: You can’t say I didn’t warn you!

Given that the document isn't actually signed by anyone from Rehne - only Couhig for both Bearwood and Redwood, is this potentially just a house keeping exercise - i.e. when the full deal was struck, Bearwood wasn't paid for, so Rehne kept a security over it and this is just a formal logging of this...

The bitter tears of indignation and envy. They're obsessive about how irrelevant they think Newcastle are. Until you live down this way nobody realises how intense (and daft) the rivalry and animosity is between Saints and Pompey which was originally based on the competition for business between th...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game - 24/25 page 225 onwards

Fair enough, I thought they also took 'covering players' into consideration but that may just be pundit bollocks. Either way it was a dopey tackle that he arguably didn't need to make. That is more if a foul takes place outside the box then the ref can take in if there is cover that could likely ha...

Re: FA Youth Cup 2025/6

Reading v Chelsea FA Youth Cup 4th round is on Wednesday 14th January at the SCL KO 7pm We now have a totally unnecessary clash of fixtures with Chelsea 1st team playing Arsenal in the 1st leg of the EFL cup semi. Surely enough time if the will is there to find another day for the game !! I would b...
