Re: Fragments of Elm Park

If only we had a 3d model of Elm Park, we could start to piece it back together with all the fragments still in existence, sold on toto fans or taken by fans for safe keeping (you know who you are), sold on elsewhere and then just replicate the rest. I can contribute some urine towards a recreation...

Re: Fragments of Elm Park

Be interesting to know what fans out there bought stuff from the auction soon after we moved into the Madstad. I was on holiday sadly and missed it; I'm sure the dugouts and maybe parts of the floodlights got sold to local non league clubs I'm also sure I saw a picture of one of the turnstiles in s...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Here's a good stat, inspired by Liverpool's 7-2 defeat at Villa and their topping the table (for now). The biggest margin of defeat in a season by a team that subsequently wins the league is six goals - a joint record held by Benfica - who lost 7-1 to Sporting in 86-87 but went on to win the league...

Re: The Non - League thread

Bracknell took care of business in the FAT against a pretty dull Sevenoaks Town outfit from IL-SE. Cracking goal from Shaquille Ishmael sealed it late on. Back to the league and FC Romania up next.

Re: Your first game watching Reading FC

I don't remember (fully) my first game, but I remember the end of Bullivant's last game, when there was a pitch invasion and people were calling for him to be sacked. What year was this? I also remember (partially) a Boxing Day Game against West Brom (or maybe it was the Wolves) at Elm Park. It was...

Re: Your first game watching Reading FC

1st January 1966, 3-0 win v Walsall at EP. Do not remember the game, but remember after the game my mum, dad and uncles queueing at the the back of the South Bank for tickets for the 3rd round cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday. Even at just eight years old, really fu cked off that they did not get...

Great 2-1 win for Bracknell at Chertsey last night in front of 400. Late winner from Dan Bayliss pushes the Robins up to second.

Re: The Non - League thread

Bracknell Town brushed aside National League South Oxford City 2-0 at Larges Lane yesterday. The Robins were very impressive - albeit against a very rusty City - and I will be a regular there this season. Another NLS side in Chippenham Town next up on Tuesday evening.

Will never, EVER get over that defeat. Still haunts me. I would suggest that every Royal knew that side would break up and our chance was gone. But then...

Jerry St Clair A quarter of a century ago  today we enjoyed our greatest away performance ever. The goal highlights don't do it justice - we were brilliant that day.

Breathtaking and we utterly destroyed Tranmere. The best away performance I ever witnessed.

Re: Exeter away August 1990

Anyone remember this day? We hired a minibus...happy days.3-1 win. Yeah, first day of the season, we had Senior, Maskell and Moran upfront for the first time together, I think they all scored, Exeter were Div 4 champs and hadn't been beaten for ages at home. Lovely sunny day, great pub and fish and...

Re: Ray Hiron

Much maligned by the boo-boys, even during the 75/76 promotions season, but his selfless performances helped Robin Friday and John Murray shine. His goals against Doncaster and especially against Brentford at home were vital (below). His best game? Home to Tranmere. RIP Stick. https://lh3.googleuser...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

[Tony Le Mesmer: There is a Royals Gems for 84-86 I believe, although sadly the 85-86 winning run is not part of it due to Strike Action.] Yes, I can see that now on the fella's promotional leaflet - such Gems as games v Bognor, Wealdstone and New Zealand but sadly not the 4-3 v Plymouth or the 2-2...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

I was just going to ask if there was any footage of our 2-2 draw with Wolves in 85/86 which pint an end to our 13 win run but I think that’s now been answered  Does anyone remember the cheap T-shirt’s the club sold at the time showing the League table on the front of the T-shirt with Reading 1...

Re: What got you into supporting RFC?! And when you did who was your nearest team?

Was it family connections? Yes. Two uncles had been watching since 1932 and 1946 and my mum watched for over 50 years. Nan lived in Rutland Road, worked at the club as a tea lady and boarded trialiists and apprentices for many years. Uncles took to me to my first game at EP on 1st January 1966 vs Wa...

Re: Old Reading Footage on VHS/film/Youtube

Got lots of snippets lined up from the 1992/93 season. An 8th place finish but for me the season that Reading really turned the corner, leading to an upswing that lasted 20 years. Rather painstaking trawling through VHS, but no better time to do this I guess! Watch this space. Thanks Mes. Really en...
