Re: Thames Valley Royals

Strange that the article does not mention yet another twist in the story: ex-Reading legend and stalwart Maurice Evans leading O*ford to their first major trophy vs Jim Smith's QPR. I remember being totally shocked at the time of the announcement, but never thought that it would go through as I knew...

Re: Champions League/Europa League 2019/20

We should go the French Cup route and start inviting teams from the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Falklands and Gibraltor down. Number of entrants for Coupe de France: 8,506  That is one hell of a bag full of numbered balls. Even with the remnants of the Commonwealth, we would struggle to get tha...

Re: FA Cup 19/20

Agree - its been nearly 40 years since we played them 8th May 1982 was the last game. 2-2 at Elm Park. Wonder if the draw will indeed encourage MB to field a stronger side in the replay. See above Saw that. Carlisle went up that season and a certain Peter Beardsley played for them that day.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

They actually played pretty well, just stuck to their gameplan and had a few chances. But Liverpool won comfortably, which shows how far ahead of the rest they are at the moment. Unbeaten in 51 now at Anfield - albeit what is nuts is that they are still around two years shy of Mourinho's long unbea...

Re: BFTG Fulham

That passage of play where Fulham nearly scored is insane. Great little nibble from Gunter to push Mitrovic wider and cause him pause initially , could easily have gone wrong and given away a pen or left him with an easier shot. Then a good first save, followed by a super second save. A brilliant d...

Swifty's first uncanny resemblance to his goal at PNE. Great, great result.

Re: Nostalgia thread

The dying art of Christmas football Last time Reading played on Xmas eve was in 1955 when they beat Millwall at Elm Park by 4 goals (T Dixon 2, Evans, Harris) to 1 Last Xmas day fixture was a 4-1 (Wheeler) loss at Dean Court in 1957 - revenge was duly swift with a 2-0 (Walker, Wheeler) success at E...

Re: FA Cup away day memories

My dad took me to Aldershot v Reading in Jan 67 - my first away game. Lost 0-1 and there was a then record crowd of 16,500 squeezed in to the Rec. Sat on the touchline for a while and then my dad stuck me on top of a tea kiosk for a clear view. How the fu ck they got 19,138 in there three years late...

Re: FA Cup away day memories

Zip I remember seeing us getting tonked 4-1 at Villa Park around 1987 ish. I think Senior scored for us but can’t be certain.

Yes, League Cup in 86. My first visit to Villa Park and my favourite away ground. Only thing I remember of the game was how vast the Holte End terrace was.

OldBiscuit Hendon away in ( I think ) 1975.

A load of Tottenham fans turned up and the brawling went on all game.

On the field we lost 1-0.

We were shite that day in an otherwise great season. Highlight of the day was meeting Denis Compton after the game.

Sutekh Barry away in 1985 was a bit special

Christ, that was bad. When Trevor Senior scored the late winner, bricks were flying everywhere. Me and my uncle just grabbed each other and got the hell out. Mad Cardiff cu nts were jumping all over our coach. Bedlam.

Older Royals with memories of 85/86 will appreciate this: today my U12 girls were 0-3 down with 25 minutes to go and then scored four without reply - with two coming in the last two minutes - to win 4-3. Scenes and limbs everywhere.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Queens Park Rangers (a) sponsored by an Ingimarsson header

Yes the 1872 photo shows we wore blue and white hoops, many years before QPR were even formed. TBF to them I am not aware of them having anything other than hoops where we have had several changes, over the years. As I understand it, we stopped wearing the hoops for several years during which time ...

Re: Champions League/Europa League 2019/20

Toni Kroos completely owned by Idrissa Gueye last night in Paris. Madrid totally outplayed with Bale, Hazard and Rodriguez anonymous. They look totally f ucked and can only be a matter of time before Mourinho has to answer the bat signal.
