Re: Confimred Mark O'Mahony

Can’t really think of much he did worthy of any comment beyond having an annoying surname.

Sometimes these things work out, sometimes they don’t, and it’s not always related to the player’s ability.

Re: Savage in the hole

This might go against the grain, but I’m not convinced Savage is especially progressive in a forward role. He’s got a cracking left foot and his right is serviceable, but his default too often feels sideways or backwards. While he’s capable of a good pass, he can also be wasteful in possession. To ...

Savage in the hole (NSFW)

Ooer and all that. But I wondered if any brighter spark could elucidate why Savage might be preferred in the AM position over Wing? It’s happened a couple of times now, so it’s obviously something the gaffer wants to try out - we’ve either started with Savage, Wing and Doyle for Fraser to come on fo...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

The pronunciation of Reading as 'Red-ing' provides a clue to its Saxon origins. Historians believe its name links to a group or tribe of early Saxons, the Rēadingas in Old English, who settled here in the 500s AD. So, it probably means 'Reada’s people'. It has been suggested the name Reada means ‘t...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stockport County (h)

A good result AND a good performance! I have to say since my whinge after the Peterborough game, the last two games have looked better, regardless of the great results. It really is starting to feel like a team again, and even people stepping off the bench or coming in for injury cover have given br...

Re: You can’t say I didn’t warn you!

Strongly #TeamBrogue for this one. I think you are conflating raising concerns (“X/Y/Z is a bit of a worry”) with ragebait (“See? THIS is clear proof that RC is a monster!!!”). I don’t personally have any problem with the former. I find/found the same things concerning. The latter isn’t something a...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burton Albion (h)

10 points from 4, can't complain though I'm people will find a reason to. Finally looking up instead of down when I look at the table. Stockport is a good opportunity to close the gap on the top 6. Some good January reinforcements and we can have a real good go at crashing the party. I’m not sure w...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burton Albion (h)

Not sure what any of the whinges are about tbh, I found that an enjoyable watch.

Really like Fraser alongside Wing. When Savage came on he apparently played in the hole but I found it difficult to tell. I still long for the day we give Wing a go as AM.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Burton Albion (h)

Much better performance so far. Marriott seems to be holding the ball up a lot more and linking up well within moves as opposed to only at the end of them. I don’t care what people say about Danny K or how often his runs may fizzle into nothing, he has almost single handedly made Reading somewhat ex...

Re: You can’t say I didn’t warn you!

I'm just assuming brogue has a suit of ai bots scouring the internet 24/7 for any tiny scrap of info he can post up on here and shout "Seeeeeee! I told you Couhig/Trosclair/Jacobson/Richardson were shit!!!!1!!" Yeah feel the same, would rather hear if this is good/bad/indifferent news fro...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Peterborough United (a)

Defending a lead is fine. Being dynamic with the press is fine. Counter-attacking football is also fine. Standing off a team for three quarters of a game is just suicide. There was a delay to the game at one point in the second half where LR got to chat with all the players and I thought: good - the...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Peterborough United (a)

The problem is, when you don’t have any real control on the ball up front (Doyle is too weak, Danny K’s end product is a coin flip, our left-side is in flux and as much as I like Marriott he doesn’t seem particularly impressive when it comes to holding the ball up or link up play), there just isn’t ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Peterborough United (a)

Clung on there. Terrible management to think standing off and sitting deep for 50 minutes would yield anything other than conceding. Extra moronic considering how weak Peterborough looked in defence, particularly their sketchy keeper - I had him down for making more clangers in the second half, but ...

Re: Reading hit with winding-up petition by former chief executive

And they were liens! Simple fact is that we don’t know the full story - in fact we hardly know any of it. Calling Howe a leech and various other names is not warranted. Tbh, I don’t care. I don't really care how legit the amount owed is, how much Howe has tried to get it by other means. He's trying...
