Re: World Cup 2022 qualifying begins

And as for England v Poland....England have come up against Poland in qualifying for the 1974, 1990, 1994, 2006 and 2014 World Cups, as well as in the finals in Mexico in 1986. England and Poland also met in qualifying for the 1992 and 2000 European Championships.

Re: World Cup 2022 qualifying begins

I can see England's Group coming down to whether England or Poland score goals more against Hungary, Albania, Andorra and San Marino, as I can see home victories for England v Poland. For the team that finishes 2nd, it is the "dreaded" *tm Play Offs........which will consist of 12 teams (t...

Re: Back from the actual game

I would argue that this is the most creative Reading team ever, even more so than in 05/06.

They are an absolute pleasure to watch, and though - because of their relative youth - they will screw up now and then, that is a price worth paying to watch genuine talent wearing the hoops.

Mid Sussex Royal As per Windermere Royal less Roy Bentley

Same for me, as my first game was in the 69/70 season.

Re: Why did we not found the English league?

Don't forget that Spurs won the FA Cup in 1901 as a Southern League team, as they had chosen for the same reasons as us not to join the Football League.

Re: BGTF Coventry

Even though we lost, we actually created a number of good chances and on another day Joao would have had a hat-trick. Could/should the whole team collectively have done better for all 3 goals? Without a doubt - but these things happen; as has been said, what is important is the reaction from the pla...

Derby on the verge of being bought by a Cousin of Man City's owner, a guy called Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan.

Enjoyable review of the game

Very entertaining and fair (though the Joao transfer fee he quoted was a bit OTT!).

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

If you go to the dictionary and look up "clinical finish" you will see Joao's goals against Wycombe and Blackburn as the given examples. That having been said, Armstrong is a top striker as well; his movement and pace over 5 yards to give himself a tiny bit of space on our defenders was ex...

Simmops
Mr Angry Paddy Power still have us at 13/2 to win the Division, and 9/4 to get promoted.

Just stuck 20 quid on us to win

I did as well when I saw those odds; the fact that they have Brentford as favorites despite them being in 11th, and with half the points we have got is frankly ridiculous.

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

and what happened before xg became a thing? did teams not go up? i don't even know how it works, as i've never looked into it. But surely you win games on a football pitch and not an excel spreadsheet :?: It's the same with "assists"; Giggs has the most "assists" in the Premier ...

Re: BTFT - Blackburn

Watched the game on the Sky Red Button; it is clearly 45 seconds or so behind live play, as my Sky Sports App kept giving me the goal alerts before they were shown on the TV - which, for the first goal, was a bit bizarre to say the least! :D As for the game.....last night was the night that we will ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Blackburn Rovers (a) sponsored by Paul McShane

It felt like a loss as we were close (never again?) to qualification although suspected that neither club nor Steve wanted it. Yet another game v Blackburn full of goals so it's 0-0 tomorrow then eh? We did "qualify" for European competition at the end of that season, but turned do...

There was even that game under Coppell when we would have got into Europe but lost IIRC by the odd goal. . 3-3 It felt like a loss as we were close (never again?) to qualification although suspected that neither club nor Steve wanted it. Yet another game v Blackburn full of goals so it's 0-0 tomorr...

A previous Company I worked for had a major factory in Venlo, and I visited there a few times; I always keep an eye out for their results (and those of Fortuna Sittard as an ex colleague is the fans representative on the Board of Directors there!).
