Re: Fixtures 2025/26

Egad, Sky want to give us more money when we really rather need it. What bastards. The facility fee for EFL televised matches is the square root of bugger all. The EFL justify this by saying they need this number of televised games to get a decent fee from Sky across the season, and it's that money...

This could as easily live in "Clubs in Crisis" The North Stand of Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough ground has been closed by the city council amid safety concerns about its structural integrity.

Re: Womens euros 2025

I think part of the problem may be that the overall standard of goalkeeping in the women's game is pretty poor - so players never really have to develop penalty-taking skills to any great standard in order to be successful with penalties. But when they come up against 'keepers at the top clubs/count...

Speaking about the news, Chief Executive Matt Hancock said: "We're really pleased to be able to confirm this ticket offer in plenty of time, ahead of the start of our League One season.

So that's what he's doing now...

Re: Womens euros 2025

Yep - and the speed of passing, the movement and the tactical awareness of both teams (but especially the Spanish) was outstanding - and noticeably improving every year. Probably significant that the four semi-finalists are the four countries with the best-financed domestic leagues in Europe, so the...

Royal Rother Gotta feel sorry for Falk. To save 4 out of 7 pens and still go out is a bit

Yep, especially as Hampton didn't do nearly as much - three of the Swedes missed completely rather than requiring saves.

Re: Show me the money

Shackling ourselves to either the "no transfer fees" or the "spend like Wrexham" model is short-sighted, dogmatic and pointless, because both these are tools available to us when we're team-building, and a blended approach is surely better. So, of course, we want to develop as ma...

Re: Club World Cup revamp

I suspect the after-effects of this tournament will scupper that, but we'll see. Doubt it, given they buy near enough a whole team every week. There is that. Two ways to look at it. Will the lack of a summer break mean that the players are knackered when the season starts, or will this just b...

Re: Womens euros 2025

Absolutely not dissing women's football, but one of the biggest differences I've noticed is that women don't seem to be able to clear the ball as effectively and as far as the men do. So that when a team is under pressure and wins possession they often fail to reach the half-way line, and freqently ...

Re: Show me the money

Your wage bill is the main determinate of the quality of your squad in L1, not transfer budget. Sheffield Wednesday had the 4th lowest wage in the Championship in 23/24 season - £22.3 million . When the owner runs out of readies as hasn't hit the big time payout. The disintegration of the club star...

Re: Modern football things you don't like

“Undisclosed” transfer fees Most annoying and serves no purpose for the ‘good of the game’ just tell us how much you tw4ts. Transfer fees are getting so sophisticated and metric-based (number of appearances, number of international call-ups, goals scored etc etc) that it's rare that it only ever is...

Brum Royal ... as a lot of the issues he runs into is down to coaches/players thinking they know the rules when they don't, or intepret them incorrectly.

They could solve a lot of that problem by making it compulsory for anyone commentating or summarising on TV to also have some form of referee badge...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

I think it's great. A nod to our history. But white shorts would work better. The effect of the pattern is to lose to the vibrancy of the blue in the shirt - so the shorts look like they are a different shade. Agree that the shade of blue on the shirt looks different to the colour of the shorts/soc...

This. This. This. Of course they should. But that's the whole point. They haven't. There's no granularity, no exemptions, no special cases, no taking individual circumstances into account - just a set, inflexible number you must attend. Just because it isn't spelt out in any announcement doesn't me...
