Re: England - the future....

It seems Sterling has gone off on one and grabbed Gomez by the throat in a confrontation in the canteen as a spill over from their on-pitch tussle on Sunday. Sterling has been dropped for the next game as a result. Just when the squad was seemingly quite settled with a good atmosphere! Indeed. The ...

Re: Racism in football (John Terry spin-off)

I do sensible chuckle to myself that the three Italians I happen to know, all women, are all married to black men. They aren't Ultras, admittedly.

Re: VAR

I remember a number of decisions that weren't given England's way when I think they should've been Sorry HB, I still think you've got a fundamental misunderstanding of what VAR is supposed to do. As well as the objective stuff, it is to support referees in making better subjective decisions. That s...

Re: Champions League/Europa League 2019/20

I like laughing at Real Madrid as much as the next person, but in Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr, do they now have both of the next two superstars? Vinicius Jr has faced a load of criticism this season. The Spanish media have been very critical of his performances and there has been speculation that he is...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Interestingly* fans will be able to attend both games if they wish - and with a reasonably full nights' sleep. A flight from Birmingham airport at 7am the morning after the Villa game will have fans landing in Doha three hours before the Club World Cup semi final kicks off.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Liverpool's Carabao Cup quarter-final to take place on December 17, one day before their Club World Cup semi-final. As per Sky Sports. Yep - Klopp set to play the kids in the domestic cup game, having assured the EFL that his team will be broadly in line with that in previous rounds, with the first...

Re: Weekend Football

Oh Son's red card has been overturned....... Definitely a red card though eh Sangers? I gave my view that I could see why Atkinson made the decision that he did, supported him changing his decision in full view of what had occurred, and that in general I wanted cynical tackles like this treated mor...

Re: VAR

Not sure the diving header analogy works. If a player has already launched themselves two feet ahead of the defender when the ball is played, then there's an infinitely small chance that he has timed his jump correctly for a header.

Re: VAR

On offsides, I can't help but think that the rule needs to be simplified to referring only to the feet. Essentially Firmino was offside under the current rules because Mings was trying to play offside - that is whilst his feet were ahead of Firmino's, he was leaning away from goal, whereas Firmino ...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Will obviously be a very tight game. If City win it will be Liverpool's first league defeat at Anfield in 45 games, dating back to April 2017. They'd also stop Liverpool two short of their unbeaten run of 30 games, which is the third best in top flight history (Chelsea 40, Arsenal 49) - Liverpool's ...

Re: VAR

On Son's tackle, it wasn't aggressive at all, in fact you could watch Son's foul without seeing Gomes' injury. A simple slide and flick of the boot to trip Gomes, which unfortunately saw him tumbling out of control into a collision with Aurier. The original point I made was that Atkinson was perfect...

Re: Weekend Football

Did say when I posted it that my opinion would be unpopular - best analogy I can suggest is say Son had tripped a player as they ran towards the ball on the touchline, sending him slamming or cartwheeling or smashing into the advertising hoarding or the crowd. There wouldn't be a lot of argument aga...

Where did I insult you? By saying you were talking bollocks? If you look back you'll see that you implied I didn't know the laws of the game, think the only condescending person here is you. I just disagreed with your view and stated why. In your derogatory paragraph about 'everyone agrees with me ...

I am giving my opinion, there is no difference. You're choosing to insult me. That's another thing entirely. Wind it in, ffs. As URZZ says, it's totally unnecessary. Where did I insult you? I'm giving you my opinion. The only 'classic' here is your condescension. You took a break last time you couldn't help keep putting people in their place here. Consider another if that's your schtick again. I am giving my opinion, there is no difference. You're choosing to insult me. That's another...
