Re: Generic clubs in financial crisis Thread

It’s really disappointing to see that playing staff are being asked to ‘defer’ their pay, but non-playing staff furloughed with a 20% cut in income, never to be seen again. My wife works for a Championship club and I've long been aghast at the total separation of the club's finances between playing...

Re: Sky Sports/ BT Sports

Soz for skim reading stuff, didn't notice they you can still watch bit. So yeah why haven't they just paused everyone's subscription. As anyone who's ever run a subscription business will attest - about half of your revenue comes from people who no longer use you service (and in most of those cases...

6ft Kerplunk Some people may still be watching endless repeats of the last couple of decades of the Sky Sports archive just to get their sporting fix.

The channels don't get removed.

Isn't that what 'Still watch the channels ...' means ?

Yes it is.

Re: Sky Sports/ BT Sports

Sky are allowing subscribers to ‘pause’ their sports channel subscriptions. Can pause it online. Still watch the channels but not get charged until the sport is back A welcome move - albeit Sky say that we 'don't need to do anything to turn it back on', which leads me to wonder why they can't just ...

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

PL and FA say that the 19/20 season will be finished, and will be extended indefinitely to enable it to do so.

Yep, October sounds about right. Wouldn't necessarily expect it to be in front of crowds though.

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

It won't be safe to start football again in April any more than it will be 'safe' for the government to lift the social restrictions just announced. They surely go hand in hand. There is every possibility now that the season is done.

Re: 2019/20 Season - How will it end?

Appears we are moving towards a cancellation of the Euros, and completion of league fixtures over the summer, with a late start to 2020/21. And this seems sensible. In the event the season is truncated, what has most support is apparently the model of 'promotion only', where 22 teams would enter nex...

Ok shoot me to bits...….I don't get all this "Liverpool played well last night blah blah blah".....All I saw was a team that spent most of the time just lobbing balls in the box......It was like watching Bolton under Allerdyce. They ran out of ideas..... Lovely to see them lose like that....

Ronaldinho in court in Paraguay this morning having entered the country bizarrely using a forged passport that suggested he was a naturalised Paraguayan - albeit only one of the three men appearing in court, the man who apparently created the forgeries, is actually facing charges.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

The Turkish Superlig reads as nuts too. There are 18 teams in the league - 11 changed manager during the summer, and there have been a further 23 managerial changes in the season to date. Kayserispor are on their fourth boss. There are billions of red cards too - once week there were 8, and three ma...

Non-League Saarbrucken make it to the semi finals of the German Cup beating Dusseldorf 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw. They are joined by Bayern who bear Schalke 1-0 - remaining 2 Quarter Finals played tonight. Nuts, that. Are the German lower leagues more closely squashed together in terms of a...

Re: England - the future....

Draw gets underway soon for the second edition of the Nations League, with group games to be played this autumn. Interestingly* UEFA have come up with a whole new coefficient to seed the teams, based on performances in the Nations League only - which means Germany are sitting quietly in Pot 4 like a...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Had to chuckle last night in the pub- bloke (think he's an Arsenal fan ftr) claiming if this virus thing gets worse, then the rest of the football season would be cancelled and Liverpool wouldn't win the title. Almost worth putting that level of stupidity on Twitter to see how many you could hook. ...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

No gold PL trophy then for Liverpool for going unbeaten. Was this actually a thing? Anyway, a defeat was coming at some point, especially as they’ve not been looking great recently. Henderson out combined with Loren in was bound to be an issue but nobody came out of that with any credit, except for...

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Selection will be interesting by Klopp tomorrow. Liverpool seem to be better in a 'rhythm' - their players are immensely fit and the winter break seems to have done them no favours, but he will need to give key players some rest during a period of three games in eight days against Chelsea (a), Bourn...
