Re: VAR

Pepe the Horseman Not VAR's fault, but how the fcuk is that not a pen for Utd?

Agreed. But I struggle to have much sympathy for Solskjaer. Was he 'concerned' that no penalty was awarded against Maguire earlier in the season for strangling an attacker?

Re: Weekend Football

Good recovery from Bolton, albeit League Two is very tight - they went from 19th to 9th by winning four consecutive games, and are still only 10 points ahead of Stevenage in 20th. There's also a very weird symmetry to the top of the table right now. Every team down to 10th is 1 point behind the plac...

Re: England - the future....

Jamal Musiala scored in the CL for Bayern last night - will only intensify the race to cap this lad at senior level, for England and Germany. Unfortunately Jamal wants to win things so, rather unsurprisingly, he’s just pledged his allegiance to Germany for future games. To be fair to him Germany is...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

La Liga looks slightly less in Atletico's control than it did a few weeks ago. Barcelona have sorted out their shit somewhat and are eight points behind in fourth. Sevilla have found one hell of a sweet spot and are up to third - since they lost to Atletico on 12th Jan, their domestic record is P10 ...

Re: Weekend Football

Fair play to Man City (can’t find a single thread for them) - had written them off after last season and the start to this one but they’ve been magnificent since Christmas time Not blowing away teams like they used to with plenty of 1-0s but their defensive record is superb (again, credit to Stones...

Re: Weekend Football

You know, whilst accepting that Drysdale was unprofessional, Alan Judge basically gets away with screaming abuse at him because, well, I don't know why. He is held to differently standards because he is a pampered idiot footballer?

Re: Weekend Football

Premier League confirms all matches will continue to be shown live until fans are allowed back into stadiums - which in essence means for the rest of this season, at least. Not sure they'll go back to not showing them all to be fair. It is the norm in many other countries and it doesn't really impa...

Re: Weekend Football

Yeah, he'll get a suspension for this, and maybe even a demotion. Which is a shame. Sure, it can't happen and Drysdale should have remained professional, but seriously, referees get all sorts of shit every single game (not least in this case, Judge laying into the ref for correctly pulling him up fo...

Have to admit that I tended to think Lampard was doing okay at Chelsea - but the transformation under Tuchel has been outstanding.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

6-pointer for Fulham next, at Burnley. Win that and then beat Sheffield United at home, and it begins to pull Brighton, Burnley and Newcastle back into it a bit. Newcastle go to Chelsea and United next.

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

I think Thiago stays and maybe Keita, there's a gem of a player there. And maybe Liverpool's strategies and tactics might change. I'd love to see Elliott come back and get a run in the side, but it will involve that front three getting broken up. I'm not 100% convinced Klopp sticks around, you know....

https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2021/feb/12/the-story-behind-barcelona-disastrous-rejection-of-luis-suarez-atletico-madrid Good read this - the story of Suarez's move to Atletico, a disaster for Barca. This bit particularly eye-opening. On 21 September a deal was drawn up to rescind his co...

Re: Weekend Football

The 7 teams in Championship positions 6th - 12th have only won a total of 7 games from the last combined 35 fixtures :o Also the 6 teams above Wycombe have won almost half their last 30 total matches As a result, the table has squeezed up from 7th down. Swansea have a 13 point play-offs cushion in ...

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/08/referee-mike-dean-reports-death-threats-to-police-and-asks-for-weekend-off Well this is troubling, and pathetic. Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

It’s harsh to target Thiago but the win percentage for Liverpool since his return from injury is alarmingly low I do think it comes down to who he is partnered with. Thiago is the anchor at the moment - his passing and movement is better than that, but he is playing Fabinho's role (and struggling w...

Re: CheLOLsea

Lucas Piazon interviewed about being loaned out so much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LOZP70xkug4 Is he still a Chelsea player? That's mad. Edit - no, he's not. Has just joined Braga, good for him. 27 years old and wasted a lot of his 'growth years' on different loans. Matt Miazga on the same pat...
