Re: Injury watch 2020/21

Important we come through Preston with no further injuries. I’m not convinced the likes of Meite and Yids will be back in time for Bournemouth and we don’t want to go into that game with further injuries as we already have seven out including Gibson. Who are the seven please ? Olise, Gibson, Meite,...

Re: VAR

I'm disappointed that you're claiming Rodri made no movement towards Mings 'until he messed up his control'. If we're not going to stick to facts that can be clearly seen in the replays then the discussion becomes pointless. Well there’s a difference between your opinion and fact, and it seems pret...

Re: VAR

I'm much less bothered about managers losing their shit (however justifiably) than I am about stupid rules. How would you change the rule ? It’s a pretty basic aspect of offside that you aren’t offside I feel the ball is last played by an opponent. No idea, but there is clearly a problem where you ...

Re: VAR

I think that 'controlled the ball' is somewhat disingenuous here, and that's why this rule is problematic. Rodri is measured (by the BBC) has 3.5m from Mings when the ball hits his chest. He immediately moves towards Mings before the ball has hit the floor or Mings's foot. Is it less problematic if...

Re: VAR

It's a stupid rule. It shouldn't be up to a defender to manage the phase of play an opponent is in. I suspect if you changed it thenit would throw up even dafter scenarios. Once the opposition have control of the ball why should you still be offside ? I think that 'controlled the ball' is somewhat ...

Re: VAR

Is Rodri affecting play in the position he is in? If Rodri isn't there then Mings may/prolly have let the ball bounce through to the keeper. Rodri forces Mings to make a decision. However, you could argue he's so far away that he isn't involved with play Is there a second phase when Mings touches t...

Re: Pedro Mendes

Can't see any scenario where we get Baldock off the books before his contract expires The only way you do it, I guess, is offer to pay him something like 80% of his remaining salary upfront. But that doesn't achieve a whole lot, granted. It just Leaves Baldock out of pocket. It might work if anothe...

Re: VAR

Rather than just piling in on Villa - and pretending all and sundry understand the rules fully (I certainly didn't on this one) - the more important debate is whether Villa were a victim here of dodgy rules, rather than VAR. I can understand Smith being angry. We have a situation where VAR is used ...

Re: Injury watch 2020/21

Unless he's got a part-time job as a lorry driver, I don't think he currently is allowed into the UK at all if he is coming from Portugal! when the denmark/mink thing happened, sportspeople were exempt I think, so that might be the case here The exemptions were given by the Government specifically ...

Re: VAR

More VAR nonsense  Should have called City’s first off There’s been some nonsensical decisions with VAR but shirley this just about tops the lot. To be fair, he was only 20 yards offside so maybe they couldn’t get the margin lines to stretch that far The explanation from the referee clarified...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Coventry City (h)

Snowflake Royal I'd rather have a small full back than DM

In terms of benefit to the squad a back up midfielder for Laurent /Rino is way, way more important than a 4th right back.

Re: January window

I'm a bit surprised there hasn't been more noise about some of our players tbh Joao, though obvs a bit injury prone, has incredible stats this season, and just watching him - he is too good for the division. Good age, plenty in the tank and knows the country etc. If Olise does have any sort of clau...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Coventry City (h)

We won 3-0. I didn't seem Holmes make a single major mistake. You missed his perfectly weighted pass to their man who was so surprised to receive it that he failed to capitalise on a simple chance to put them 1-0 up very early in the game? Yes. As clearly stated in my comments. To be fair though th...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

‘ In any scenario we would have lost for me. Their front four were on another level.’ 8) I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a technically gifted front four than Joao, Swift, Olise and Ejaria in nearly fifty years supporting this club. Yep, and it is a crying shame we can't see them live, but I guess...

Re: 150th Anniversary Thread - 2021/22

I would like to think the home kit will be a homage to the first kit worn by Reading FC. Sort of blue and white hoops affair ? There were some replicas of the original shirt done when we moved out of EP. Would be nice to have a modern version, but also like the gold hoops idea, even if just as a on...

Optimistic that the club will do a good job on this. What I have seen on the mural is impressive and will be interesting to see what else they have planned.
Quite amazing that fans of the newer clubs accuse us of having no history .....
