Re: Rival Watch

URZZZZ Preston have had 8 penalties so far this season! Is it me or is that extremely high for this stage of the season?

Remind me a lot of us in Stam’s first season. Pretty average team, riding high. And we had something like 9 penalties before Christmas as well

Re: Sone Aluko to China!

Yeah turned out badly for everyone - Norwich, us, Aluko, Oliveira.... The only ones laughing were Fulham who couldn’t believe their luck And now we have Sheff Weds fans laughing so hard that we’ve massively overpaid for Joao. I suspect we haven’t paid anything like the quoted £5m until we win the P...

Re: Rival Watch

Genuinely can’t believe Preston are top of the Championship. Awful against us and not much better on the bits I saw on TV today Well, they have a clear defined style/formation. They have a good balance in their team, for example Stockley, Nugent and Maguire/Barkhuizen up top. They're solid at the b...

Re: BFTG Millwall

Millwall were very poor yesterday so let’s not get too excited. Their left back was an absolute donkey I think at one point even Swift did him for pace! Yiadom needs to learn to cross a ball and then he’d be super dangerous. Rafael was a bit flappy and isn’t great at coming off his line. Definitely ...

Re: BFTG Millwall

Baldock's going to be key to any success we have in the near future. He's the one frontman who could play with, and bring out the best, any of our other forwards. It is a total mystery why he was sidelined by Jose, particularly when he looked to have impressed pre-season. Really enjoyed that game, ...

Re: Ejaria vs Siggy

Not sure if there's any clever people out there (or someone that can be arsed) but I think it'd be interesting to see a touch map for Ejaria comparing his games last season to those of this season. My instinct from the games I've seen is that this year would see his touches this season being further...

Re: Ade Williams

I don't think his recent podcasts with former managers and players have been that great, bit of a missed opportunity in my view. Would have been better for one of the pro journalists to have done these as they would have done more homework and asked better questions. Disagree if a professional jour...

Re: How times change

It actually goes even further now. The lad of a friend of mine started "supporting" Paris St Germain when he was about 14. He doesn't even support Arsenal anymore (now they've become shit), let alone Reading. That's the impact of the Champions League coverage, although with that on BT Spor...

Re: BFTT - QPR (A)

Enjoyable game and the first half gives good confidence that we'll be ok. Nice to see fast, fluid attacking from all areas Only downside was sitting in the pub and occasionally getting confused as to which team was which  I`m with you on that one, got confused a few times too. Funny! Same thi...

Re: Have we sold the Mad Stad to the owners/someone else?

The Ricoh Stadium was sold to Wasps’ owners a few years ago for, effectively, £21m. SISU had hoped to pick it up for significantly less which is why they got incredibly tetchy when they were outflanked by Derek Richardson and his partners. Have to remember the land around the Madejski was sold for a...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

A real low for me in terms of our fan base. Its slowly receding yet we all know it will be back in full force when results wont go Bowen's way. Utter cringefest. We really do have the most embarrassing fans of all football fans on social media. Twitter is just what it is. Full of muppets What I tak...

Re: Ex Players

A decent listen, and a complex character, our Dave, pulls no punches. Still remains my ‘modern day’ hero I didn’t really buy much of Kitson’s interview. Thought he came across as a bit of a knob-end deliberately taking a contrarian view, because it actually gets him notoriety. Even though he says h...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

He seemed to suggest he was surprised by Gomes sacking, so may well have been consulted and said, he thinks he'll turn it around. I think people have read too much into him being in charge of footballing matters. For a change I tend to agree with Ian here about the level of influence he had as Spor...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

It would be interesting to know who else was interviewed for the job, who else was sounded out but said no. If others were interested, was Bowen doing the interviewing.. Who interviewed Bowen. It feels very shabby to come in in March, and 6 months later have sacked the manager having potentially be...

Re: CONFIMRED - Mark Bowen

haven't read the whole thread, so may have already been said. However, what if Bowen was actually much more influential behind the scenes last season than we all know. We seemed to do better after he joined, but that's partly due to Gomes getting his feet under the table as well. Maybe, just maybe,...

Re: BFTG Bristol

There's a subscription based coaching thing on Twitter called Coaches Voice. They released some previews a couple of weeks ago, one of which was Jose Gomes. One thing I remember (though not specifically a centre back in the penalty box demo) was for players to mark spaces when defending outside the ...

Re: BFTG Bristol

Watching highlights on Quest and MOTD just shows how many goals come from getting the ball into the box early. Something we just do not do, and haven’t done for many seasons. Doesn’t matter if it is wingers or full backs. Just get in in the box. We also lack pace in the squad, thus making it easier ...

Re: GOMES OUT!

So we're 10 games in. P10, W2, D2, L6, F11, A16, with a recent form of: LLLDL This time last season: P10, W2, D3, L5, with a recent form of: LWLWD Ten games is enough time to really start judging performance, and it's inexcusably shit. So, if I was Howe, I'd be saying, Jose, this isn't acceptable. ...
