Re: Ex Players

i always rated McCarthy, I'd have him at Shaka levels. It was shame his kicking was fairly ordinary. One on one I think he was the best keeper I've seen play for Reading, unlike AAH who was terrible coming off his line.

Re: Explain like I'm five: our FFP crisis

The other issue is that we don’t know what the loss is going to be in 18/19. A bloated squad won’t have helped. Nor will our declining income. Transfer spend was better though with the sales of Bacuna and Ilori. But we did blow £5m on Baldock apparently Thought it was £3.5m? Anything over about 350...

Re: Explain like I'm five: our FFP crisis

Yes because 20/21 will only matter alongside 2018/19 and 2019/20. Next season will be a struggle. And of course, the financial clusterfcuk of 2017/18 is exacerbated this season by the fact we made a profit in 2016/16 which mitigated against it last season but is now off the books for FFP. The other...

Re: Green park station/south Reading station

Hound Whereabouts in GP is the station going to be? Tried googling around etc but couldn’t find the exact location. Guessing near the A33?

I think it is the other side of the new houses

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Please don't be some rubbish ugly no name Chinese betting company. It's going to be isn't it? I actually didn't think Carabao was that bad in the great scheme of things. Better than a betting company. Just hope it isn’t a betting company. Aren’t something like 17 out of 24 clubs in the Championship...

Re: Are we screwed?

We're in the same dangerous territory we've been in for years. But a lot of the repairs have started. A tight, well motivated, drilled and dedicated squad can take you a long way in the Championship and there's plenty of promise in our Academy. With the work we're doing, even if the worst happens a...

Re: CONFIRMED: Novakovich to stay on loan nxt season, this time at Fotuna Sittard

If all scouting was done based on a just watching goals scored on YouTube videos .... we'd have a team of Mass Sarrs. For those too young to remember, The story goes that the Reading manager back in Tommy Burns signed a player called Mass Sarr based solely on a highlights video his agent had put to...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

That’s to come.... But I do know the truth about how the comic relief shirts come about but not sure if that’s already been spoken about. Was it a potential away kit scraped at the last minute after 5000 produced? No - opposite, home kit!! Owners didn’t appreciate what the backlash would of been. W...

Re: Champions League & Europa League 2018/19

Spurs are very much a one man team with very little creativity for me. Solid but unspectacular. I’d sell Eriksen, and think they need a second forward in the Mane, Martial mode. Think Moura does that role a bit but is he high enough quality? No top forward will go there all the time Kane is “the man”

Re: Financial Fair Play

Didn’t Sheff Weds have a “self imposed” transfer ban last summer? In essence, it is the club signalling to (or agreeing with) the EFL that they are taking the whole FFP thing seriously and please don’t impose sanctions as we’ve been doing everything we can (ie the complete opposite of Birmingham City)

Re: Ex Players

I'd rate the Drenthe wage as extremely unlikely, but theoretically possible. But the Roberts rumour is hogwash definitely. The club would have been delighted to have a such a blatant reason to get rid of Roberts. So, given that "fact" is complete nonsense, on the balance of probabilities,...

Re: Ex Players

Both of those sound like absolute bollox. £100k a week in the Championship? Do me a favour. Even Villa weren't paying anyone that much. Refusing to play and Roberts would be in breach of his contract and just sacked. Sounds mental but then Anton was a complete turd so totally possible. We signed hi...

Re: Ex Players

It was rumoured that Drenthe was on £100k per week. Ian Harte made some form of reference to it. Jason Roberts was fully fit in his final season but refused to play apparently after he’d triggered his contract extension as he didn’t want to tarnish his reputation as he knew his best days were behind...

Re: Rival Watch

The trouble is we need to sell before we can buy. Apart from McNulty how much interest is there going to be in the likes of Kelly, Bodvarsson, Baldock, Walker etc? Kelly - wouldn't be shocked to see him go to Feyenoord Bodvarsson + Baldock - two quality strikers for the Championship, I'd have thoug...

Re: Next Season's Squad.

NewCorkSeth Chelsea lost their appeal against a transfer ban. Will that make it easier or harder to sign players from them?

Harder I would think, but it's such a massive squad they will only be able to have a Premier League and Champions League squad of 25

Actually didn’t think the ref this week was bad at all. Definitely one of the better ones. Hardly noticed him or his decisions which is a good sign
