Re: Hunt out.

We're becoming rather famous for being persistent with managers who aren't up to the job. Paunovic, Ince, Selles (who luckily turned it around) and now Hunt Did we do any better when Managers were lasting a year or so, even less in some cases? Yes, we may have in been in a higher League, but the re...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Mansfield Town (h)

This commentary is diabolical. Can hardly hear it with all the background (canned?) noise! It's getting worse week by week.

Re: Players at Reading who you had completely forgotten about

Looking at my old autograph book I do not remember any of the following; David High (played 72*, times noted in my book) David Bridger (played 10) James Lofty (played 2) Alan Morris (played 12) Morris Cook (played 12) * all League games some players also played on FA Cup and/or League Cup games as w...

Re: Elm Park - the final days

Up until around 1980 I was a regular on the town end terrace as it was the closest to my gran's house in Rutland Road. Started collecting home and away programmes in the 60s and in that top photo, the blue door on the far left was where I used to pick up my programmes from the legend that is Mick F...

Re: Royals TV Match Commentary; better or worse?

A mix of ex players, current players, podcasters and former staff seems a pretty good idea to me. You want co-comms to vary so you get different views and anecdotes, not the same tired old 'Mick's big in Rotherham' 'Newcastle are losing again' tedium all the time. At least with Tim and Mick they ar...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

I posted this the day after the Swindon game, but it got buried in the "Club Policies" index, so I thought I would repost it here. I didn't think the audio commentary couldn't get any worse, until last night. the main commentor said "oh. it's a goal". in the middle of rabbiting o...

Royals TV Match Commentary; better or worse?

I didn't think the audio commentary couldn't get any worse, until last night. the main commentor said "oh. it's a goal". in the middle of rabbiting on to his mate . He tried to hide his embarrassment by saying that it came out of the blue. RC said when he arrived that he aimed to improve R...

Yes, that's because you're both very very old

I'd quibble at the 'very'.

Regrettably I can't.

Some of us need an extra "very".

Clyde1998 Early results: Cardiff 4-0 Plymouth; Doncaster 1-0 Rotherham.

Cardiff and Doncaster now the top two ahead of the 15:00 kick-offs. We’ll jump above Rotherham with a win and Plymouth with a draw.

And Port Vale with a win.

Re: Hunt out.

When we have made good signings in the past, Brian Carey has been given the credit. Why is Noel now to blame for the not so impressive signings and not Brian? I assume he is still at the club.

Re: The Local Journo Thread

I asked him about losing the rights to do the Royals Tv commentary and he said it was a blessing. saying first and foremost he’s doing radio commentary. TV commentary is different, he often forgets his commentary is being broadcast on the TV, so it didn’t always come across very well for people watc...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Lincoln City (a)

I have been listening to BBC Berks. audio commentaries since before Tim started doing them. The last few years on Ifollow/Royals TV and al I can say about todays is that is the most dire I have endured. Silence at half time, couldn't wait to get away after the match. No discussion or man of the matc...

Re: Probable transfer nonsense - Knibbs leaving

If any player I wanted to sign was waiting for a better offer, I would say "There's the door, close it behind behind you, please". I would rather have a player who wanted to play for the club, not someone who signed just because he didn't get a better offer.

We’re driving down to Cornwall today. Don’t suppose we’ll have an online commentary this week, will we? Presume you can listen to it via BBC Berks on the BBC Sounds app for free, or pay the club a fiver to listen to the same commentary on the Reading FC App courtesy of RoyalTV or both in an attempt...
