Re: Stadium Matchday Upgrade

Not sure what they've done, but the sound quality of the PA system in the East Stand has got worse, not better.

Re: FA Cup 2025-26

Carlisle have a big supporters base and an awful lot of them don't live in Carlisle any more (I mean, would you? ) So I think people saying they'll not bring many are wrong - there are a good many London/South-based Cumbrians who'll jump at the chance to see their team play without a 600-mil...

Re: FA Cup 2025-26

Assuming the TV deal's the same as last year, there'll be 5 live games across the BBC and ITV. Here's last year's fixtures just for reference: Friday 1 November 2024 Tamworth v Huddersfield Town Saturday 2 November 2024 Northampton Town v Kettering Town Sunday 3 November 2024 Sutton United v Birming...

Re: Royal Elm Park

Suspect they may chuck in a train from Reading Station to Green Park or the F1 bus to the Stadium and that would be it. Can't imagine their generosity would extend to the regional football buses. Principle's great mind, been to a few European games where you get free regional travel all day on a mat...

Re: Striker STILL urgently required - can we wait until January?

I'm going to guess one of the U21 strikers will be on the bench on Saturday with O'Mahony and Tuma away; could be a big opportunity if one can get on the pitch. Given Reece Evans was given a 2 year deal when all other u21 intakes only signed 1 - I imagine he could well be given a spot on the bench....

Re: Matchday Events

Not really my thing, but have no issue with them trying. Do think they should concentrate their energies on pre-match stuff. There was a few people post-match in the Fanzone after Orient, but it looked close to empty after Mansfield. Probably doesn't help that the Renegade (and Heineken) trucks had ...

Re: Home ticket changes

It will be interesting to see whether they make season ticket holders move over to ST's on phones permanently or if we can continue to use the plastic ST card which still works fine. Yep, would love to know the split between physical and digital STs. Still seem to see quite a big proportion of plas...

Re: Hunt out.

The question, assuming Ritchie hasn't got 90 minutes in him, is he more valuable at the beginning or end of the game? The team seem to benefit from his presence, he's brilliant at encouraging others and isn't afraid to bollock Wing etc. Think he'd bring out the best in Ahmed's game too, always feels...

Re: MATCHWATCH : MK Dons (h)

Sort of enjoyed watching these games so far, don't care about the result, like seeing the new / younger faces. Yep, me too. Like how Hunt predominately sticks to the Academy lads or newbies. Not sure the PL U21s add much to the competition, actually think it would be improved by inviting the Nation...

Clyde1998 The convention centre is Phase 3, but they've been more specific as to what will be inside..

Where's that information? On the key it just says mixed-use commercial; Exhibition Centre, retail, sports & recreation, hotel.

Re: Exeter City (A)

From the Players on international duty thread: It's always much later than you think. All of the England youth squads announced this Friday (3 October). The Northampton game was postponed the same day as the England squads announcement in September. Presumably other nations broadly follow this timet...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

bit short on specifics - if the academy is going to lose a net of £2.5-£3M this year and Bearwood has a bigger deficit attached to it (bigger than £3M a year???) - what are the plans for new revenue streams? The Academy and Bearwood costs will mostly be staff. I think deficits are to be expected in...

Re: Players on international duty

Camara is out for 2 months and Garcia out for a month. That's what Hunt said in his previous interviews on Berks in the past few weeks. I am odds on this game goes ahead. Agreed. Surely we would've known by know if it was going to be postponed too? It's always much later than you think. All of the ...

For any St James Park newbies, the indoor Centre Spot fanzone is excellent. One end is set up like a beer festival with local ales and ciders direct from the barrel, plus reasonably priced pasties and pies. Recommended.

Garcia coming off injured just before half-time; Ryan on. Sounds precautionary, but would've liked it to happen at half-time - we've used up one of our substitution slots now. Don't think it was precautionary. He twisted something when he pirouetted nicely away from Smith. Tried to carry on, but co...

Saturday will be our first home match since the kids went back to school. This will be a better game to gauge attendance / interest. August games are always a little sparser than the norm.

Fanzone staying open until 7.30pm for the Orient game.

Man United v Chelsea on the big screen and all the eating/drinking places open.

That will be a ghost town if we lose or the weather's rubbish.

618 homes. 616 car parking spaces. :? No mention of the conference facilities / exhibition space that was a big part of the original plans. Or the ice rink! Slightly surprised there's demand for another hotel, given you've got Voco next to the SCL, plus Hilton, Holiday Inn and Premier Inn within a m...

Re: Fixtures 2025/26

Elm Park was on 2 major bus routes out of and into town; the 17 bus (if it still runs) went every 5 mins along the Oxford Road. 17 bus is a Reading institution, it's still Reading Buses' flagship route! Remember reading an interview with the ex-CEO, where he said that the really long linear route t...
