Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

I'm still bitter about Tanner, Dickie, Hyam, Novakovich and Stacey.

We do alright, but we could do a lot better given the potentials we've had.

We bring in an awful lot of mediocre squad fillers when we could give Academy lads 5-10 appearances instead.

Re: Rival Watch

The point is Cardiff's style of play under Warnock was coming under scrutiny and they've just replaced him with someone who equally plays a horrible style. May as well have kept Warnock It's a cheap, horrendous appointment IMO But I have judged other appointments wrong, Potter at Brighton, Cooper a...

Re: Richards Obita or Blackett ?

At least we've stopped signing obvious no hope squad fillers like Travner, Brett and Marcus Williams, and Mendes.

We've unfortunately moved on to past it no hopers like O'Shea, Adam, Yakubu etc, which, if anything, is worse, sadly.

Re: Green park station/south Reading station

I used the words might and assuming...... no idea yet what the situation will be. I doubt any random rocking up to Reading station will get to Green Park for free, but if you're travelling from say Paddington to Green Park you may find it's the same price as Paddington to Reading... all pure specul...

Re: Richards Obita or Blackett ?

Oh. Then I go Obita, Richards, Blackett. I can play either full back position or DM actually. Badly in all. Ah, the classic trio of positions for the incapable park footballer. Could you do a job as a “defensive winger” when protecting a narrow lead? Not on an XI a side pitch at the moment. You've ...

Re: BFTG - Luton

yes agreed, and thats obviously what was happening under the Stam/Clement regime - and hence what I mentioned about it changing when Gomes arrived. Its probably the one thing I look back on with JG and would say he really improved. The one thing? He kept us up, he was very likeable and brought posi...

Re: Liam Moore Interview Part 2

It's not even about his talent. We dont need him. Every position he covers is already covered. We need a CM if anything. We need wing options. No guarantee McCleary will stay fit and Meite is pretty prone to injury. We would have paid his loan fee and we can give him back at the end of it, doesn't ...

Re: Liam Moore Interview Part 2

Hound Caught 15 mins of it so far - interesting that Moore highlights much the same issues as we saw in here in Jose’s 5 at the back - ie too big spaces behind the FBs due to pressing too high

It's almost like occasionally we know what we're talking about!

Re: Ex Players

Düsseldorf are in the top flight so not surprising he’s finding it a bit harder, but he did look good enough for that level when he was here. I think he’d walk into this side tbh. Rino’s in reasonable form but he’s not a patch on Baker. I think I'd pick last season's Baker over any of our current t...

Re: Rival Watch

Almost, but not quite! They’ve actually only lost 2 that matter with Parky in charge. 1 at high flying Wycombe in his very first game and the other at a useful Shrewsbury a week later following a 5-0 win over Tranmere. The other defeats were actually a draw in the league cup (lost in penalties) and...

Re: Richards Obita or Blackett ?

I probably favour: LB - Blackett, Obita, Richards LWB - Obita, Richards, Blackett But Richards has really come on and ultimately its whoever is training and playing best. If Swift is taking all the corners then Obita is slightly less valuable, as he used to have a superb corner on him back in the Jo...

Re: BFTG - Luton

Swift is not the player Stam bought, he is certainly not the player of the last two seasons. In the last 2/3 games he’s played at the highest level and been effective, it’s like a new signing. And when he doesn’t work there’s Ejaria.... bit difficult for opposition to shutdown both of these players...

Re: Rival Watch

I’m not sure tbh. Certainly some were quite scathing about our first half performance there, and Hudders being in a compete rut I thought the WBA performance was a very good one, but think this was very much us being on top of our game There was always the fear that if other teams stopped the ball ...

Re: Swift's new role

He's not the same player as the one I've seen the past two seasons. Fitter, stronger, more direct, as showboaty as before, but with much more purpose. Not trying to play his way out of quite such tight holes or in such dangerous areas. Tracking, tackling, intercepting. Set pieces more reliable. And ...

Re: The idiots of Twitter thread

The lads on twitter are really being pathetic about the McCleary situation. A consummate professional who has endured a real challenge in a difficult part of his career has just scored for us rounding of a great win and they are having a go at him. The mind boggles. It’s basically just that cretin ...
