Re: Rumour - free agents

Zip Pleased we only signed five players of which four have already played. We finally don’t have a bloated squad.

Amen to that! A trimmer squad has been required for the last 5 or so seasons

Re: Should Reading change our club crest...

I like our current badge/crest. I think it's pretty distinctive. Same - I’m a fan of our crest...like the blue & white hoops and it has a ball in it. I don’t like badges that don’t have a ball in them! My only issue is there’s a lot of red in it and I’m not sure what the relevance of red is to ...

Re: Next seasons kit choice?

My 1 question about the home shirt is: why don’t the hoops continue on the sides of the shirt near the bottom?

It’s lovely on the front, and understand having the white panel for the name/number...but it just looks a bit bizarre lower down!

Re: Sone Aluko

Presumably as Ovie and Swift were injured on Saturday the new manager picked him and wasn't let down whereas previous managers seemingly didn't trust him. I think he falls into the Michael Meaker/ Andy Hughes category in that we expect them to be bad so when they do better it feels as though they h...

Re: Marc McNulty arrested for match fixing

I think it’s unfortunate for McNulty but also not convinced he’s good enough.

However...we’ve barely played him, and rarely played him when he was just signed, which was odd. The mistake the club made was signing both him & Baldock in the same window...why sign 2 small strikers?

Jacob Murphy on loan from Newcastle potentially? Always been a good player at this level

Personally thought Meite & Olise played very well as the wide options last week - you don’t need out and out wingers to be successful at the level necessarily. Aluko is also a backup option from the bench.

Re: Marc McNulty arrested for match fixing

Getting bored of this saga now. Bored of the fact we gave him a stupidly long contract in the first place. Bored of him coming back and talking about being given a “fresh chance”. Bored of the fact he only leaves on loan. And...bored of the fact we announce it as though he’s left us permanently, whe...

Happy with this - will provide cover for when Rino or Laurent is out, and a more defensive option for away games if we want to keep it tight

Re: BFT Watford

I'm impressed at the way Rino carries the ball and always seems to glide away from opposition players... There's a touch of the Mick Gooding about him IMHO The bloke’s just superb really. I’ve said he’s the most important player at the club & stand by that. The best thing about it for me is you...

Re: BFT Watford

That was a brilliant full-bodied performance, full of grit & selfless teamwork. Every player put a decent shift in and we nullified a superior team today. Puscas put in a real shift & was up for it. Whilst we didn’t player to his strengths much last season, today was a marked difference in h...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Watford (h) sponsored by Chris Armstrong

Pretty even up until the goal, you could see Watford's ex-PL quality at times. But we got better as the half went on and looked great after the goal. Hopefully we can hold on. Holmes has looked perfectly capable and good assist (shanked shot?). Aluko looking good and Puscas' hold up play greatly im...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Watford (h) sponsored by Chris Armstrong

That’s a decent half of football despite our clear deficiencies on the right side of the pitch. Aluko is showing he can be a useful backup option although I’m undecided whether it’s good or not how deep he’s coming. Up until the last 15 min of the half we weren’t posing any threat, and was thinking ...

Not expecting anything out of this, so a good performance is key. Interesting to see how we line up...4-4-2? 4-2-3-1 with Aluko in the number 10 position?

Anyone defending the prospect of this kind of signing, even on half those wages, is bonkers in the head!

But then all the rumours about it look bollocks anyway so no need to get ourselves all excited about it!

Re: Reading players out of contract in summer 2020

I think McNulty is in his final year with us which helps. If we get anything for me we need to let him go. Can’t see us getting more than £200,000 anyway. Marc McNulty is contracted to Reading until June 2022. My life really? Why on earth did we hand out a 4-year contract to a player who hadn’t yet...

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

We do have to sell players although ironically the one player we sold for a decent fee in Mo Barrow is someone we really needed to keep a hold of. We don’t have a single winger in the squad. Yes that is quite ironic...although it became clear Barrow didn’t want to be here so I suppose there’s not a...

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

After Kia’s interview on TalkSport earlier, it’s just as well the EFL have placed us under a soft embargo, as he really would take us to the cleaners. This is more than about Riquelme, understandable some people are getting a bit upset over it (although we’ve never seen the bloke play), but the lon...
