Re: Hooliganism at Reading

Because he's reminiscing about a time when he didn't support Bournemouth.

Re: BFTG - Luton

Maybe this is where the club need to focus their efforts, rather than the playing side of things. I guess everyone is doing the Sports Science thing these days, but maybe there's a new thing we can investigate? - maybe more mental coaching to keep the players brains alert/active/thinking quicker as...

Re: CheLOLsea

I've worked in places that still have time & attendance bonuses as an element of pay. I don't think it's too much to expect someone who gets paid £100,000 a week to work 5hrs a day to turn up on time and if it takes a threat of getting docked a day's pay to do so, it would suggest that there was...

Re: CheLOLsea

Some quite steep fines there but all seems pretty fair and designed to instil a sense of respect for the club and team mates.

Wonder if Frank had similar levies at Derby and how much you'd get fined for wrecking the club captain's legs in a drunken car crash?

Re: LOLiverpooLOL - Next Season

Having finally seen the TAA handball incident, I think, on balance, the ref got it right. His arm wasn't way up away from his body, the ball appears to hit his side first and his arm didn't move towards the ball. If that happened in a Reading game, I'd be mightily pissed off if that was given again...

Re: BFTG - Luton

It's having the right players in the right set up that is helping Swift. 3 solid CBs and a DM, allow Yiadom and Obita/Richards to get forward without leaving us short handed at the back. In Baldock and Puscas we have two forwards who make the defence work and Ejaria always draws defenders to him bec...

Re: Rival Watch

Agreed, it's the right time for him to leave. He owes them nothing after getting promotion 2 years ago, they're winding down his time with them in neutral and it gives a new manager a platform to suss out the squad and build towards next season with very little danger of them being in trouble.

Re: Rival Watch

I think Miazga's ooc next summer and if he was anywhere near playing for Chelsea, he wouldn't be on loan, especially with their transfer embargo.

Don't bet against him being back here permanently next season, especially if Bowen continues to take us forward.

Re: Rival Watch

I don't think Bowen would let a couple of defeats derail it. I like his mantra of earning the right to play by doing the nasty stuff well. You look at the 2005-07 team and the 2012 team and even with all abundant skill, the spine of both sides would run through brick walls for the team; Ivar, Sonko,...

Re: The idiots of Twitter thread

It’s basically just that cretin Mafff and a couple of chums who are sulking because GMac called him out for being a bell And possibly as their hero Gomes binned him He didn't exactly celebrate his goal did he? I personally really like him and was really happy to see him score, but did notice that h...

Re: VAR

To be honest, I don't pay enough attention to the VAR debate to fully know the criteria for its use but to my mind, it's the clear and obvious error conundrum. A clear and obvious error should not take more than 30 seconds to overturn, if not, go with the onfield decision.

Oh, absolutely. I don't mind Colin Murray on things like Fighting Talk but he's dreadful and that Ally Maxwell bloke is a smug twat. I always record it and fast forward the studio talk.

Makes you nostalgic for Manish Bhasin and Steve Clarridge.

Re: BFTG - Luton

Still early days but 4 games, 10 points, 2 clean sheets, 8 goals for with 7 different scorers and only 3 goals against.

Bowen is talking a good game and getting a bang on response from the players.

Not seen it tonight. Was Holloway on, whinging about not getting the Reading job.

To be fair though, Dean Ashton is a more than decent pundit.

Sam Parkin is tolerable but the rest are fcuking dreadful.

Re: BFTG - Luton

I think this quote from Bowen sums up where we'e gone wrong for the last 3 years "There's two sides to this game - when you have the ball and when you haven't got it. "Since taking charge, we've been banging into the lads the importance of getting the ugly side of the game done and if we d...

Appreciate you were talking more about Twitter etc. it was mpre in response to DD. I like to think that this place fosters a more considered outlook than 160 characters of hastily vented spleen.

Pleased for Gmac. Publicly at least, he's maintained his dignity in all of this.

Pretty sure the only person on here calling Bowen a snake was reading4eva and just about everyone laughed at him for being a dick.

Twitter on the other hand, now that's populated almost entirely by dicks.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/4703630.stm Remember getting one of those NOW TV passes to watch that game, think I missed our first goal. Reading scored after 15 seconds I think, then in the last minute. Got no favours from the ref as I recall with Doyle being clean through near...
