Re: why don't more people from Ethnic Minorities support Reading?

Three reasons 1. Less likely to have got the itch from their dads 2. Put off by the perception or reality of the racism that still goes on in football stands around the country 3. Reading's football and financial situation do not exactly make a compelling case for a Berkshire-based neutral who coul...

Re: why don't more people from Ethnic Minorities support Reading?

I spoke to some Indian's about this and the main reason they said they don't support Reading and wouldn't come to a game even if the tickets were free is because they live in India.
Seems distance is an issue.

Re: CONFIMRED - The 2nd final countdown

I, for one, will welcome our new Overlord. However, as has been said before, picking holes in how he may behave as owner is like someone in a burning plane moaning about the colour of the parachute silk. Right now, NOTHING else matters other than Dai selling Reading FC on or before May 5th. More li...

Re: why don't more people from Ethnic Minorities support Reading?

Most of us on this board are white men, so we're not really in the best position to come up with answers to this. Most of us get into football and support a team through our parents, so if their parents don't support Reading then that route isn't there for them. Agree it's a big target audience and ...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

Hopefully the new owner won't take the Sir Jim Radcliffe approach to getting things in order by cutting almost insignificant spend which had a bit positive impact on the staff. Sir Jim cut the stewards £50 bonus awarded to the Steward of the day as part of the cash saving initiatives, at the sometim...

One person we can’t afford to lose is Brian Carey- head of recruitment. Agreed, at least until we recruit someone from Norwich as there's a Brian Carey bought a Canary song waiting to be unleashed. if it turns out he lives on a prairie and can't eat dairy then its going to blow oppo fans minds when...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

The statement said the prospective new owner is financing day to day operations pending completion of the deal. With this in mind, to aid our promotion push which would benefit the new owner, do we think they've reinstated things like overnight stays before away matches and food? Our only remaining...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

The club are now in negotiations with someone who is well known to the FL, and there has been movement forward to complete as apparently there was a survey completed on Bearwood last week, so they should be happy to extend to May 7th. Interesting, Rob Couhig was set to buy the training ground once ...

Reading4eva I think the one you refer to was the one I did a few weeks back - https://youtu.be/PuW8acbuNu0
That's the one.
Don't know if our academy has much focus on finding and developing women, but sadly I imagine that might be one area scaled back if it hasn't already.

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

I watched the Couhig interview which was posted on here somewhere, He addressed the speculation about the academy and more or less said it has to pay for itself, Now he is a businessman so he'll be looking at a longer term payoff rather than breaking even every season but he did say the Michael Olis...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

Is it really true that Rob Couhig plans to close or downgrade the academy or is this just some tenuous, self-feeding rumour with no substance? I'm more than prepared to give him a chance (like him even) but would be very concerned by this direction of flow. Surely bringing on and selling a few acad...

Re: Dave Kitson > Shane Long > Kevin Doyle

I hope Leroy Lita isn't reading this wondering if it is cos he is black. We were so fortunate to have had 4 quality strikers in that side, hardly surprising we finished with 106 points. The fact that out of Lita, Kitson and Doyle we reportedly only had 1 game where all three were fit shows how impor...
