Re: If you didn't support Reading, who would you have supported and why?

There's nobody for me really. I don't come from a sport loving family and certainly no teams pushed on me by parents, grandparents etc. My Dad took me to see my local team because he observed the interest I was developing at school. Had he not done this I'd have almost certainly ended up going down ...

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

We need to cut our losses on some players and move them on ASAP. Why would they leave ? We're paying them way over the odds, so they're not going to move on to a lower wage just to help us. Baldock, Aluko and Walker all expire in 12 months time, while McNulty seems to be happy to move back to Scotl...

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

If he is going elsewhere so be it but as said, there must be an underlying reason why this deal hasn't gone through but the Gibson one did - must be cost. Perhaps there was an expectation of a large loan fee for him or an obligation to buy for X million that meant the EFL wouldn't sign it off. Ejar...

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

Not at all bothered at the prospect of being gazumped on a youngster who i haven’t seen play and, given he is a winger, probably wouldn’t get regular starts as Reading don’t really use wingers. More annoyed by not really knowing whether it was working out a loan deal with Atletico or waiting around...

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

TiagoIlori Looks like he’ll be signing for Bournemouth now. oxf*rd joke the EFL took so long to let us sign him when Bournemouth are not in a good financial position either.

Parachute payments, fees for Wilson and Ake. Think they have a bit more clout than us!

Pauno's call on how to replace Araruna, but agree Watson must be finished if he doesn't play. He's already 23 and if he can't get picked in these circumstances then he'll never make it.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Watford (h) sponsored by Chris Armstrong

Think this is the game where injuries will hit us hardest. After that, an international break and maybe some strengthening on deadline day. I'm going for a 2-0 Watford win :(

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

Exclusives has now reported the move has been hijacked by an unknown rival. I still have the feeling he’ll sign to be honest, hopefully Kia works his magic Ah the battle of the ITKs - Exclusives says it's been hijacked yet Eddie says it is really done. Be interesting* to see who is right. Eddie has...

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

The whole process is a joke though. There is no public statement that we are under a ‘soft embargo’ and if we are it seems either a ridiculously loose sanction or we don’t understand what it means. A ‘one in one out’ rule is pointless, we could ship out a low paid youngster and recruit a high paid ...

Re: Opposition fans back from the game

Think they both play it, that's the benefit. Inevitably one will end up getting forward a bit more than the other. Rinomhota certainly dropped into the position we saw swift take up last season between the 2 CBs against Derby and Laurent did it against Barnsley. Didnt see anyone do it much against ...

Re: Osho

Anybody got a gif of the Simpsons episode when Homer quits and the reapplies for his job, and has to crawl through the tunnel, at which point Mr. Burns quips "Come crawling back, eh?".

I feel that would be appropriate here.

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

We now have the clearance to sign him, but it’s a “one out one in policy from here”. That bit is from exclusives. Looking through the gaps of the knowledge we have, providing Rodrigo still wants to come here we should be announcing him fairly shortly. How does that square? I don't think anyone is d...

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

Surely the issue is the same soft embargo? There were rumours that ‘talks ended badly’ with Semedo which probably means everything was agreed until we said ‘hold on while we get approval’ Mendes was probably holding on too long also! Why else would we have Riquelme training this long and not signin...

Re: Rumour - Rodrigo Riquelme

Disappointing if true. We've made a good start, but sustained promotion challenge is a pipe dream without proper squad depth. But then if we can find decent alternatives, not so bad. P.s. if the one out, one in rumours are true, McNulty and Aluko have proven to be truly abysmal signings. Taking up R...

Re: Osho

Osho is a bit of an odd one, wasn't the best timing to turn down a deal Don't imagine him or Gunter would be able to just walk straight back into a first team game anyway, even if we wanted them to Gunter has a lot of experience at this level and I'm surprised he hasn't been snapped up. Osho was un...

Re: Pauno Whelmguage v2.0

I am impressed so far. Not just the results but he seems to be cultivating a good atmosphere, the core unit of the squad seems to be closer than ever. He is using Bowen's team and a 4-2-3-1 that I'm sure the team has a degree of familiarity with, but his team selections (Luton was controversial but...

Re: Pauno Whelmguage v2.0

I dont want to come across negative here but I am going to reserve any serious judgement of his ability as a manager until we are a few more games in. He has done well, selected the right teams, made sensible subs, seems to have done good work on the training pitch and, from reports, he is very han...

Re: Marc McNulty arrested for match fixing

Surely if anything this means we're stuck with him for the foreseeable. Chances are he would have left on loan in the next couple of weeks anyway, so that's not gonna happen now. No idea how long this could drag on for and we're not going to sack him unless he gets found guilty. Agreed. It has the ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Cardiff City (a) sponsored by Chris Casper

Feel for Araruna on a personal level. Done better than many expected with Yiadom out and may have been well set for a run in a team. But, unless it's minor, you'd assume a new RB is a certainty now and he may have a challenge to get back in.
