Re: Ex Royals

Lots of revisionism of Twitter that's he was shit for us and has been found out. He did a good job for us and kept Hull up. His Sheffield United appointment never made sense and it looks like their new ownership are making a horlicks of things. If he's available when Hunt goes I'd happily take him a...

Re: England - the future....

Just eyeballing the data, I don't think that statistic is correct. Had a quick look/play. At the end of 2021, he had played 67 England games and scored 48 goals, for a ratio of 0.72. After the game last night, it is 109 games and 74 goals, for a ratio of 0.68. From 2022 to 2025 inclusive, it's 0.62...

Re: England - the future....

There will of course be a clamour to bring Bellingham back but I think he disrupts the balance of the team. Don't want to go overboard on one performance but of the big names that are missing, Saka is the only one I'd say walks straight back into the starting XI. Can Madueke play LW too? As I think...

Re: England - the future....

Injuries helped; no temptation to shoehorn in too many big names. The big question is when Saka, Bellingham, Foden and Palmer are fit, and if Grealish plays well for Everton all season, do we finally have a manager ballsy enough to leave star names on the bench? None of those players do the role And...

Re: England - the future....

Pretty good from England tonight in our toughest qualifying game (admittedly not saying much). Positive, fast paced moves, not afraid to mix it up and go over the top. Anderson has only passed backwards once when he gave it away, but has otherwise consistently been pushing us forward. Two wingers tr...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

The example I remember at the time was not being able to offer a new contract to Richards and losing him for free; that's £5m transfer revenue lost at least. But it was around the time Dai was blocking sensible sales for Moore, Loader and Swift. Perhaps the result would have just been we'd have been...

Re: Hunt out.

Flipping the topic on its head a bit, what is a fair expectation for Hunt with resources at his disposal? What keeps him at the helm into 2026, 2027 and beyond? I'd say top half, clear development of the team and a spine to build upon for a promotion challenge in 26/27 is enough to keep him here. Po...

Re: Hunt out.

Last year we could put out a top 6 first XI but were only ever a few injuries away from being a bottom half team. Now we can put out two top half XIs, but the best line up isn't quite a good (as you would expect without Bindon, Mbengue, Knibbs and Smith). I'd say overall we're stronger now; it's a m...

Re: Josh bowler

If that is what happened. I believe Noel told a number of people, including some nobbers, at the Bearwood open day that a player we were very close to signing had asked for more money and was waiting to see if he could get better elsewhere rather than signing. I don't think it takes too much to put...

Re: Hunt out.

Selles bailed for a job that had a guaranteed pay-check every month - most of us would have walked out on an employer who missed payday so often long before he did. But his stock was low when he joined us.....noone else would take him after his pathetic effort at Southampton. We gave him a chance a...

Re: Summer 2025 Transfer Ratings

I'd say the squad is in good shape. Since IR's original post, we've brought in Williams who could well become signing of the season, Marriot, Doyle and Ritchie. I think we have a genuinely competitive L1 squad. I would have liked a Cole/Cheek target man option and such a signing would have moved us...

Re: 3 more signings

I reckon that Cheek lad at Bromley would be a smart, low cost option. Scores bucket loads, experienced and presumably hard as nails after so long slugging it out against non league beefcake CBs. Some players hit their peak in their 30s. Get him on a 2 year deal and he'll be just shy of his 35th birt...

Re: England - the future....

Rio Ngumoha is something else, could make Lamine Yamal look like Royston Drenthe. But of course it’s England so bound to rarely get a game. Haven't seen him myself but Arsenal's 15 yo Max Dowman is also being mentioned by ex-pros in the same breath as Yamal. 2 generational talents coming through at...

Re: Confimred - Matt Ritchie

Fits the Ian Harte mould of a signing, hopefully has the same effect as he definitely has the quality. For a team that thrived on crosses and set piece delivery, it made complete sense. To be fair to Harte, his left foot was a weapon that more than made up for his lack of pace. Harte was never reli...

rabidbee But if O'Mahony is out on international duty, who's going to score the goals?

Marriott, Ehibhatiomhan and if Brogue is right, another striker in the pipeline.

Mark O’Mahony confirmed in the Ireland U21 squad for their qualifiers against Moldova and Andorra: https://www.fai.ie/latest/under-21-squad-named-moldova-and-andorra-qualifiers/ No Charlie Savage in the Wales first team squad (unsurprisingly): https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwy5zjpzn...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Royal_jimmy We've got a strong squad now for league one

Get Ferguson and an extra striker over the, and dare I say it, it will have been a "spectacular" window.
