Re: Best/Worst Pundit

whoever the co-comms was on TNT last night for the Juventus game didn't understand the difference between being sent off for a 2nd yellow and a straight red. 100% correct to question whether Kelly should have had a straight red, but he kept saying he didn't understand why they would change it from ...

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

Sean Patton scores yet again for Aldershot. What's that now? Five goals in six games? This is encouraging news. Decent standard as well - if 2 divisions below us currently. 5 goals and an assist in 6 Very good news. One caveat though-Aldershot are a team that likes to attack whereas............ :wi...

Re: Play-off/relegation watch.

Losing play off final. I wouldn’t immediately jump to “relegation nailed on”, reasonable chance Couhig flips his investment, for one. My view is that you’ve got to go for it. The worst thing to happen this season would be any number of dead rubbers in the last month. Obviously they will go for it, ...

Re: Play-off/relegation watch.

Is it? What if we lose? Not much really, we're not in "must win" territory for the rest of the season. Would be nice if we maintain a play-off charge but I'd worry if we somehow shithouse our way to promotion via the play-offs, we'll need a near perfect Summer window or we'd be in for a l...

VAR trying their best to screw Liverpool over again. No way should Macca’s ricochet have been disallowed. PGMOL can breathe a relief they managed get another. I know my eyes aren't great but I thought the ball just hit Macca's back and I'm not sure that the point of the elbow would have produced en...

No, it's just pape has a functioning brain. Once again Ian you have no appreciation of nuance and a sense of humour void. I’m not sure someone who has interpreted my argument ( you lot, stop being f u cking nonces ) as an unfailing defence has any place talking about nuance. You do realise that I w...

Off pitch Burslem have some of the toughest home fans only rules I’ve ever encountered before a match. 12:05 and that Titanic Brewery pub were a firm nope. Micro pub opposite had a solid offer, waddling duck pale and a darker beer for Green. Wander around square to Post Office Vaults, great little ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Port Vale (a)

Just seen the highlights and their goal. Wtaf was that? Where was the defence - like any of them? Horrific. Had assumed it was some set piece or something How many teams regularly make substitutions on the back 4. We do it every game. Taking ward and Williams off in the last 20 mins means we have t...

Re: Bolton fall out

Why is it ludicrous, in what world should someone’s boot ever be near someone’s face? When that face belongs to someone lying on the ground who has fallen after a close tussle with an opponent. I haven't seen it on TV, but judged by the reactions of the Bolton and Reading players -none of who react...

Re: Bolton fall out

The Chronicle has reported Leam as slamming the challenge on O’Connor on Tuesday as disgusting https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/sport/25865699.reading-fc-boss-slams-disgusting-bolton-wanderers-tackle/ Personally, in the split second it happened, I think it was a completely accidental and zero int...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bolton Wanderers (h)

Good to see a speedy winger taking players on-the pity is that it was a Bolton player. I do hope that Young gets game time as nobody else playing out wide for us is a natural winger with pace. Williams and Kyerewaa fill that No. Williams is not that quick and Danny K can do the first bit but hasn't...

Re: Play-off/relegation watch.

We may have to accept an upper mid table finish this term, not really good enough to push for a play-off spot, the work starts in the summer to build a squad to push on from a promising season even if the performances don`t add up. Why would we have to accept upper midtable? We're 2pts off the play...

Re: Champions League, Europa League & Europa Vauxhall Conference League 25/26

Bloke from my local shop is an avid Galatasaray fan and was smiling from ear to ear (as they say) this morning. It may well have been Juventus' biggest loss in European competitions. Next up for them if they get through will probably be Spurs or Liverpool. Although they have already beaten Liverpool...

Re: Bolton fall out

For anyone clamouring for Pereira to be run out of town who would you have liked in goal for that one on one in the 2nd minute? Chances are we wouldn't have been hanging on to a one goal lead in the 95th without him Well said. An ever changing back 4 doesn't help and if we hadn't had Pereira at one...

Re: Bolton fall out

Over the years I calculated just now that I have watched around 1400 Reading home games. Today I feel that I have never watched such an unimaginative and and crude half of football as last night's second half. I count among those games the 6-0 thrashing by Bristol Rovers and the 7-0 loss to Man City...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (h)

In my case it’s not ‘how are winning’ more it’s not a sustainable way to keep winning and I don’t think we’ll continue to win so many points unless performances improve (which they might) Marriotts always scored goals but not like this. He’s massively outperforming his career stats. Can it continue...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (h)

Migraine night last night and this morning have stopped me going unfortunately.
I have no stats to back me up but I feel that we tend to do better than average on sunny days.

Maybe Paddy Lane, being used to the balmy weather of Portsmouth, will come good at last in the sunshine.
