Re: CONFIMRED - The 2nd final countdown

If it is Dai's signature they're waiting on, perhaps they should fold the top of the document down and tell him it's another mortgage on one of the club's assets.

That's presuming the CCP haven't cut his hands off already.

Re: Ex Players

Yeah I can't remember if he jumped or was pushed, so to speak, but whichever it was I'd say it didn't work out here. I'm happy to see him doing well now and if he gets into the Prem, it will be more proof of how good our academy is. Just a shame we couldn't cash in on him properly at the time, but t...

Re: Ex Players

Rumours that summer will see Estoril midfielder Jordan Holsgrove move to the Premier League…. Fair play to him. It just didn't quite work out for him here, I think he may have just not been quite physical enough for the Championship when he moved on from us. But seeing him potentially going into th...

Re: Purple Turtle sponsorship bands

That's a great booking for the final day.

I like the fact that it's there to showcase smaller bands as well, but for a big game like this one it seems fitting. Could get them to play Black Magic live as the teams walk out, from the stage, and it'll probably sound better than the stadium speakers.

Re: Predictions for this weekend

We'll win comfortably, Orient will bottle it and we'll go into the play-offs riding the crest of a wave and finally win a play-off final at Wembley. There, I've said it. At least we have someone to blame now. Happy to be that man. Whatever does happen though, I am so proud of this team. A collectio...

Re: Goal of the season 2024/25

My favourite was Wing v Bristol Rovers but the best for me is Wing v Wrexham - great team move and an emphatic finish.

Smith's dipper was good but as he's left I can't vote for him.

Forbury Lion
Brogue exactly, you cant make an omelette without first killing some chickens
I assume you failed Home Economics?

Or like Dan Miller says in The Thick Of It, you can't make an omelette without having a full and frank discussion with the eggs.

Re: Ex Players

Uke Femi Azeez in the same position as our players going into the final match (although one division higher)

Pleased for Femi, just wish it wasn't at Millwall.

Re: BTFG - Bristol Rovers

Yeah thankfully I don't have to make that kind of decision, and I am sure it's not happened very often. Presumably the officials would come to a decision together and perhaps explain it to the benches. Still wouldn't go down well but it's not something I have ever seen so thankfully it doesn't come ...

Re: BTFG - Bristol Rovers

The ball punctured. If it had gone in, I think it wouldn't count as a goal. I seem to remember seeing something once about that - if the ball bursts before it goes over the line, it won't count as the ball is deemed 'dead' (in more ways than one). Not sure what happens though - I guess a drop ball....

Re: MATCHWATCH : Bristol Rovers (a)

That was a great away day. I thought we looked comfortable at the back, with a lack of steel in midfield that allowed them to create a few too many openings. That's something that we need to address next season I think, assuming we're sold etc.. Pereira made some superb saves - I really think he's o...

Dependent on the outcome of the season.

I'd take him as a utility man in League One but probably not in the Championship.

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

It must be difficult to get hold of the right kind of person to work behind the scenes in a football club. Players and coaches come and go, but the core of the club's staff must stay around for a while. I think Sue Hewitt has been around since the Elm Park days for example. You're looking for people...

Re: Promotion thread 2024/25

There was something definitely broken in the team in the second leg. Reading: Hahnemann, Rosenior, Pearce, Duberry, Harding, Kebe, Gunnarsson, Matejovsky, Tabb, Church, Long. Subs: Federici, Cisse, Hunt, Little, Kitson. I remember being more suprised at the starting line up, my memory is we went 4-...

Kitson, all the way. He was at the Caversham Trents end of season BBQ last year plugging something or other but was more than happy to chat to all the excited Dads and to the kids who had no idea who he was. My other abiding and first memory of Kits is him giving the travelling Reading fans a sneak...

Bumping this up as i downloaded Championship Manager 2 9697 last month. Up to the start of October and currently 22nd on GD.. despite being +4 points compared to the corresponding games in real life. Early days but can't believe that we stayed up that season  Early contenders for POTS - Bori...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

Is it really true that Rob Couhig plans to close or downgrade the academy or is this just some tenuous, self-feeding rumour with no substance? I'm more than prepared to give him a chance (like him even) but would be very concerned by this direction of flow. Surely bringing on and selling a few acad...
